How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience
    Location: Sheffield

    About the Company
    Our client is an established and growing Hard Facilities Management (FM) provider, delivering specialist engineering, maintenance and building services across Yorkshire, the Northwest and wider UK.
    As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join their Pre-Construction team.
    This is a key role within the business, responsible for developing accurate, competitive and commercially robust electrical tenders across a diverse range of sectors.
    You will work closely with the Estimating Manager, Group Pre-Construction Director, operational teams, clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors, playing an important role in securing new business and supporting the continued growth of the organisation.
    The role would suit an experienced Electrical Estimator who is looking to take the next step in their career, or an established Senior Estimator looking for a position where they can have a real influence on the estimating function.

    The Role
    As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you will take ownership of the preparation, coordination and submission of electrical tenders across a variety of sectors.
    Your responsibilities will include:
    Preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates from first principles
    Estimating projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, residential and public-sector environments
    Reviewing tender drawings, specifications, Employer's Requirements and contract documentation
    Producing detailed cost plans, pricing schedules and tender submissions
    Assessing project risks and opportunities throughout the tender process
    Presenting findings and recommendations during tender adjudication meetings
    Identifying and developing value engineering opportunities
    Obtaining, analysing and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations
    Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors
    Attending pre-tender meetings, site surveys, client meetings and tender interviews where required
    Supporting the successful handover of secured projects to the operational and commercial teams
    Maintaining accurate estimating databases, supplier pricing and historical cost information
    Working closely with Design, Commercial, Procurement and Operations throughout the pre-construction process
    Supporting the development and mentoring of Estimators and Trainee Estimators
    Keeping up to date with legislation, Building Regulations, British Standards, electrical technologies and market conditions
    Contributing to continuous improvement across the estimating function
    Ensuring estimating activities comply with the company's Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
    Representing the business professionally and promoting its values and reputation
    About You
    We're looking for a commercially minded and technically strong Electrical Estimator who can manage multiple tenders, work to tight deadlines and produce accurate, competitive submissions.
    You will ideally have:
    Essential Experience & Qualifications
    * HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
    * Extensive experience estimating electrical building services projects
    * Strong technical understanding of electrical building services systems
    * Excellent knowledge of construction tendering processes, procurement routes and commercial principles
    * Experience pricing projects across multiple sectors
    * Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards and relevant electrical legislation
    * Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office
    * Excellent numerical, analytical and commercial skills
    * Strong negotiation and communication skills
    * Ability to manage multiple tenders and consistently meet deadlines
    * Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to the wider team
    * Full UK driving licence
    Desirable Experience
    Degree in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering
    Professional membership of IET, CIBSE or equivalent
    Experience with BIM and digital design platforms
    Knowledge of renewable technologies, decarbonisation and sustainable building solutions
    Previous experience mentoring junior estimators
    SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
    Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract
