How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Student Success Officer

Co-founded by the Class of 92 and Lancaster University, UA92 started with a clear belief – higher education should be accessible to all. That means challenging inequalities, widening participation and creating opportunities for people who may not always have seen Higher Education as a path for them.

That purpose is about more than opening the door. It is about making sure that once students join us, they have the support, opportunities and sense of belonging they need to succeed.

We’re now looking for a Student Success Officer to join us. This is a role with real purpose working directly with our students, spotting where someone may be struggling or becoming disengaged, and helping put the right support in place early enough to make a difference.

    The Role

You’ll play an important part in helping our students succeed throughout their time at UA92, with a particular focus on engagement, continuation, progression and belonging.

Using student data alongside real conversations and relationships, you’ll help identify students who may be at risk of disengagement, withdrawal or academic underperformance and coordinate timely, practical interventions. You’ll provide one-to-one and group support, coaching, guidance and signposting, while working closely with academic teams, Registry and professional services to make sure students receive joined-up support.

You’ll also help deliver student success programmes, induction activity, events and initiatives throughout the academic year, creating opportunities for students to connect, participate and shape their experience at UA92.

Data matters in this role too. You’ll look at patterns in engagement, retention, progression and attainment, helping us understand where barriers or gaps exist and whether the interventions we put in place are making a difference. Your insight will contribute to our Access and Participation Plan and our wider work to close gaps in student outcomes.

Ultimately, this role is about knowing our students, understanding what might get in the way of their success and doing something meaningful about it.

    What You’ll Bring

You’ll already have experience working in a student-facing role within Higher or Further Education, and you’ll understand that supporting student success requires both good processes and strong relationships.

You’ll be someone who can build trust with students from a wide range of backgrounds, communicate with empathy and confidence, and work effectively with colleagues across academic and professional services.

    You’ll Bring:

    •A degree or equivalent qualification.

•Experience of working within Higher or Further Education in a student-facing role.

•Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences.

    •Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

•Confidence delivering presentations, training or support in both one-to-one and group settings.

•The ability to build effective partnerships across academic and professional services.

•The ability to analyse and interpret data and use it to inform action.

Experience of developing student-focused programmes or initiatives, supporting students from widening participation backgrounds and using data to identify challenges and evaluate impact would also be valuable.

Most importantly, you’ll care about what happens to students after they arrive. You’ll share our belief that background should not determine outcome and be motivated by the opportunity to help students feel that UA92 is somewhere they belong and somewhere they can succeed.
