The Role - Senior Science Technician
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Haringey is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Science Technician to join its Science Department from September on a long-term basis.
As the successful Senior Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and effective running of the Science Department. You will prepare and organise practical lessons, experiments and demonstrations, ensuring that equipment and resources are available and ready for use.
You will be responsible for maintaining and organising laboratory equipment, preparing chemicals and materials in line with appropriate health and safety procedures, managing stock and ensuring laboratories and preparation areas are kept safe, clean and well organised.
The role will also involve working closely with Science teachers and supporting the wider Science team with practical requirements across KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5. You may also be involved in maintaining departmental records, monitoring resources and assisting with the development and organisation of practical materials.
Previous school-based experience working within a Science Department is essential, ideally with experience as a Science Technician or Senior Science Technician. A strong understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures and practical Science requirements is highly desirable.
You will be organised, reliable, proactive and confident working independently, whilst also being able to collaborate effectively with teachers and other members of the Science Department.
