How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor
    Location: South East London
    Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + package
    Sector: Modular Construction / Residential / MMC

    About the Role
    Our client is an innovative and rapidly growing construction business specialising in the design and delivery of high-quality, sustainable modular housing solutions.
    Working across residential, social housing, healthcare and private development schemes, our client provides a full turnkey service covering feasibility, design, manufacture, construction, installation and handover. Their projects utilise modern methods of construction to deliver high-quality homes efficiently, with a strong focus on sustainability, affordability and reducing carbon emissions.
    Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their commercial career within a forward-thinking construction environment.
    Key Responsibilities

    Supporting the Quantity Surveying team with the commercial management of projects.
    Assisting with the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans.
    Supporting the preparation of tenders and subcontractor enquiries.
    Obtaining, analysing and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
    Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
    Preparing and maintaining commercial documentation.
    Assisting with valuations, applications for payment and payment notices.
    Supporting the preparation and agreement of variations and compensation events.
    Assisting with cost reporting and forecasting.
    Monitoring project expenditure against agreed budgets.
    Assisting with monthly CVRs and commercial reports.
    Supporting the management of subcontractor accounts.
    Reviewing subcontractor applications and invoices.
    Assisting with final accounts and commercial close-out.
    Identifying potential commercial risks and opportunities.
    Working closely with project managers, designers, engineers and the wider commercial team.
    Developing an understanding of contractual obligations and project requirements.
    Assisting with procurement and supply-chain management.
    Maintaining accurate records throughout the project lifecycle.
    Supporting the commercial team across projects from pre-construction through to completion.
    Developing your understanding of modern methods of construction and offsite manufacturing. About You

    Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying or Commercial environment.
    Ideally 1–3 years' experience within construction.
    Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline is desirable.
    Experience within residential, main contracting, modular construction, MMC or a related construction environment would be advantageous.
    Strong numerical and analytical skills.
    Good understanding of construction costs and commercial processes.
    Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
    Strong communication and organisational skills.
    Commercially aware with excellent attention to detail.
    Keen to develop a long-term career within Quantity Surveying.
    Comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
    A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of tasks. What's on Offer
