How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager from a custom or contract manufacturing background to join an established international engineering and manufacturing group and drive growth across the UK.

This is not a traditional product-sales role.

You will be selling bespoke, engineered manufacturing solutions to OEMs and businesses across multiple sectors, identifying opportunities where customers require a manufacturing partner capable of taking a complex component or programme from design and tooling through to production, automation and assembly.

The ideal candidate will understand how to sell technical, customised manufacturing solutions, rather than catalogue products, and will be comfortable engaging with engineering, procurement, operations and senior decision-makers.

The business already supplies major international customers and has significant manufacturing capability across Europe. With continued investment in automation, technology and systems, this is an opportunity to play a key role in expanding the UK customer base.

    Why This Role Stands Out

Sell custom-engineered manufacturing solutions rather than standard products
Opportunity to develop customers across multiple industrial and technical sectors
Target OEMs requiring bespoke components and long-term manufacturing partnerships
Multi-year manufacturing programmes, with some contracts running 5-10 years or longer
Full sales ownership from identifying the opportunity through to securing the programme
High level of autonomy across the UK
Opportunity to shape and develop the company's UK commercial strategy
Backed by an established international manufacturing group
Strong technical capability across design, tooling, injection moulding, blow moulding, automation and assembly
Excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress within a growing international manufacturing business

    What You'll Be Doing

Identifying and winning new customers requiring bespoke plastic components and engineered manufacturing solutions
Developing new business across multiple sectors rather than being restricted to one market
Targeting OEMs, product manufacturers and businesses with complex outsourced manufacturing requirements
Building relationships with engineering, procurement, operations, programme management and senior leadership teams
Understanding customer requirements and working with internal technical teams to develop commercially viable manufacturing solutions
Managing complex technical sales processes from initial opportunity through to production
    Developing long-term strategic customer relationships
Negotiating and securing multi-year manufacturing programmes
Growing revenue and developing opportunities within selected existing accounts
Building a strong UK pipeline and identifying new markets where the company's manufacturing capabilities can add valueSales cycles typically range from 3-12 months, with programme values increasing significantly as projects progress from development into full production.

    What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience selling custom or contract manufacturing solutions.

You may currently be working in:

    Plastic injection moulding
    Blow moulding
    Thermoforming
    Rubber or silicone moulding
    Precision engineering
    Contract manufacturing
    Custom plastic components
    Engineered components
    Tooling and mould manufacture
    Technical manufacturing
    OEM component supply
Assembly and automationYou will ideally have:

A proven track record of winning new business
Experience selling customised or engineered products/components
Experience working with OEMs and manufacturers
The ability to sell across multiple sectors
    Strong technical and commercial understanding
Experience managing longer, consultative sales cycles
Confidence engaging with engineering, procurement and senior management
A proactive approach to identifying and developing new markets
The ability to understand a customer's manufacturing challenge and position a technical solution
Strong commercial negotiation and relationship-building skillsImportantly, you do not need to come from automotive.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have sold into sectors such as medical, healthcare, industrial, electronics, electrical, aerospace, defence, energy, HVAC, consumer products, telecommunications, construction or other technical manufacturing markets.
