How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Medical Device Development Engineer, £38,000 - £42,000, Oxfordshire

    Are you a Development Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Product Development Engineer looking to build your career within the medical device sector?

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and innovative medical device engineering company in Oxfordshire, where you will play a hands-on role in the design, development, prototyping, testing and low-volume manufacture of innovative medical devices.

    You will be involved across the full medical device product development lifecycle, from translating customer and clinical requirements into initial concepts through to CAD design, prototyping, verification, validation and supporting manufacture.

    The Opportunity:

    * £38,000 - £42,000 salary guide + benefits.

    * Join a growing and innovative medical device engineering business.

    * Work on the design and development of next-generation medical devices.

    * Develop your experience across the full product development lifecycle.

    * Excellent opportunity for a Development Engineer, Design Engineer, Production Engineer or Graduate Engineer looking to develop within medical devices.

    The Role – Medical Device Development Engineer:

    As a Medical Device Development Engineer, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team developing innovative products and supporting their transition from initial concept through to manufacture.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Designing and developing medical devices, components, tools and fixtures using 3D CAD (SolidWorks).

    * Translating customer, user and technical requirements into practical engineering concepts.

    * Producing detailed CAD models, drawings and design documentation.

    * Developing prototypes and supporting prototype assembly.

    * Planning and carrying out product testing and supporting verification and validation (V&V) activities.

    * Working with production and engineering teams to ensure products can be manufactured consistently and to the required quality standards.

    * Investigating design and manufacturing issues and developing engineering solutions.

    * Contributing to design reviews, product improvements and new product development projects.

    * Maintaining appropriate technical and engineering documentation throughout the product development process.

    This is a varied, hands-on medical device development engineering position where you will have the opportunity to see your designs progress from concept and prototype through to finished product.

    Your Background – Medical Device Development Engineer:

    We are looking for an engineer with a strong mechanical engineering foundation and a genuine interest in medical device design and product development.

    You may currently be working as a:

    * Medical Device Development Engineer

    * Development Engineer

    * Product Development Engineer

    * Design Engineer

    * Mechanical Design Engineer

    * Medical Engineer

    * R&D Engineer

    * Graduate Engineer

    * Manufacturing / Production Engineer

    Previous experience within medical devices, healthcare technology or another highly regulated engineering or scientific environment would be advantageous. However, engineers from other product development, precision engineering or manufacturing backgrounds may also be considered.

    You should have:

    * A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

    * Experience using 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks or a similar package.

    * An understanding of mechanical design and product development principles.

    * An interest in prototyping, testing and product development.

    * Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

    * The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

    * Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.

    Experience of medical device development, ISO 13485, design controls, risk management, verification and validation would be particularly advantageous, although training can be provided for candidates with the right engineering background.

    Why Apply?

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to move beyond a purely CAD-based role and gain genuine exposure to the complete medical device product development process.

    You will have the opportunity to work on innovative products where engineering quality, reliability and patient outcomes are central to the development process.

    The role offers a combination of design engineering, development engineering, prototyping, testing and manufacturing support, making it particularly attractive to an engineer who enjoys varied, hands-on technical work.

    This Medical Devices Development Engineer job is commutable from Oxford, Didcot, Abingdon, Wantage, Witney, Bicester, Aylesbury, Faringdon, Swindon and surrounding areas.
