How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Field Service Electrical Engineer to join their Field Service team, supporting customers across the UK and internationally.

This is a hands-on role suited to an electrical engineer with strong LV/MV switchgear experience who enjoys commissioning, fault finding and working directly with customers.

Based around Bristol or Cheltenham, you will spend approximately 90% of your time travelling to customer sites, with the majority of work across the UK. Overseas travel is typically required once or twice a year. When working within your local geographical area, you can generally expect to be home most evenings and weekends.

You will work with a range of customers, including Defence clients, carrying out installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of LV/MV switchgear. You will also undertake protection relay configuration, functional testing, fault diagnostics, Site Acceptance Testing and provide technical support to customers.

The role will involve interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation, completing commissioning reports, supporting site surveys and risk assessments, and working closely with project teams and customers to ensure projects are delivered safely and successfully.

It would be advantageous if you have experience working with protection relays such as Siemens, ABB, Schneider or GE, as well as exposure to SCADA, PLCs or automation systems. Previous experience within Defence, industrial, utility or offshore environments would also be highly valued.

    What’s on offer?

The salary is £55,000–£70,000 depending on experience, with enhanced rates when working on customer sites. Experienced Service Engineers can earn £80,000–£100,000+ per year, depending on travel and time spent away from home.
Site work can attract rates of up to 120%, and a company van is provided.

    Essential Requirements
Must be a British Citizen/National and eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance.
ONC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Proven experience with LV/MV switchgear installation, commissioning and maintenance.
Strong electrical testing, commissioning and fault-finding experience.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
    Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
    Good problem-solving and organisational skills.
    Full, clean UK driving licence.
Willingness to travel extensively, with around 90% UK-based travel.
Flexibility to undertake occasional overseas travel.
Strong commitment to health, safety and quality
