How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Light Vehicle Technician

    Location: Peterborough

    Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00

    : £32,000-£42,000 depending on experience, plus company Bonus Scheme

    The Role

    Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will take ownership of your workload and be confident working independently on a wide range of customer vehicles and trailers. Previous diagnostic and fault-finding experience would be highly advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs to HGVs, light vehicles and trailers
    Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults
    MOT preparation work
    Attending roadside breakdowns and disabled vehicles when required
    Liaising with the parts department to source required components
    Completing job cards and service documentation accurately and on time
    Maintaining workshop cleanliness and safe working practices
    Following all customer site procedures and health & safety regulations
    Keeping up to date with product knowledge and attending training courses

    The Ideal Candidate

    NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds qualified Technician or equivalent industry experience
    Recent experience within the motor trade in a similar role (within the last 2 years)
    Strong diagnostic and repair skills
    Full UK Driving Licence
    HGV Licence beneficial but not essential
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Excellent communication and customer service skills
    Flexible and proactive approach to work
    Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures
    Own tools are essential
