How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you an experienced Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Pastoral Support Worker or Youth Worker looking for a rewarding role supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH, behavioural and emotional needs?

    Simply Education are recruiting for a Behaviour Mentor in Bromley Common to join a specialist SEMH school supporting young people who may have experienced exclusion from mainstream education or who are at risk of exclusion.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about behaviour support, pastoral care, safeguarding and helping vulnerable young people re-engage with education.

    The Role

    As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with secondary-aged pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, emotional regulation difficulties and barriers to learning.

    You will build positive relationships with pupils, provide consistent boundaries and act as a trusted adult and positive role model.

    Your responsibilities may include:

    Providing 1:1 and small-group behaviour and pastoral support

    Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils

    Supporting pupils with SEMH and emotional regulation

    Managing challenging behaviour using appropriate de-escalation strategies

    Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem

    Supporting young people who have experienced or are at risk of exclusion

    Encouraging pupils to re-engage with education and learning

    Establishing clear, consistent and positive boundaries

    Supporting individual behaviour plans and pupil targets

    Promoting positive attitudes towards education

    Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals

    Maintaining a calm, consistent and supportive approach

    About the School

    The school is a specialist SEMH setting in Bromley Common providing education for secondary-aged pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support.

    The school offers a structured environment with clear expectations and a strong focus on relationships, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and educational progress.

    Many pupils may have experienced difficulties within mainstream education, including exclusion or persistent barriers to learning. The school aims to provide a fresh start and help pupils develop the skills and confidence needed to make positive progress.

    Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, vulnerable young people, alternative provision or school exclusions would be advantageous.

    However, experience within a school is not essential. We are also interested in candidates from youth work, care, sports, residential or other relevant backgrounds who have the resilience, confidence and interpersonal skills to support young people with challenging behaviour.
