How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Engineering Manager (Permanent)

    Salary

    £80,000 - £85,000 + Bonus + Medical 

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead design and engineering delivery across water and wastewater treatment projects
    Oversee the full project lifecycle - surveys, design development, construction, commissioning, and handover
    Work closely with civil, process, electrical, and health & safety teams to ensure integrated delivery
    Guide procurement and equipment selection, factoring lead times into the project programme
    Coordinate external designers and subcontractors to ensure work aligns with project objectives and quality standards
    Carry out site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical issues
    Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
    Ensure consistent health, safety, and environmental compliance across delivery
    Prepare project reports and status updates, flagging key risks and milestones
    Feed lessons learned into continuous improvement across the business
    Requirements

    Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
    Chartered Engineer status, or working towards, preferred
    Strong commercial acumen - comfortable managing design budgets, timelines, and resources
    Confident collaborating across multiple disciplines in a multidisciplinary environment
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving technical issues
    In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly in water and wastewater
    Proficiency with information management systems and design software such as AutoCAD or Revit
    Work Schedule
