How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    General Foreman - Southern Water FrameworkContract Role | Main Contractor | Southern Region

    Hays Civil Engineering is recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to support the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Southern Water framework.

    Working for a leading civil engineering contractor, you will play a key role in the safe and successful delivery of projects ranging from treatment works upgrades and pumping stations to pipelines, reservoirs and associated infrastructure schemes throughout the South of England

    This is a long-term contract opportunity offering exposure to a substantial programme of work within the UK water sector.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervising day-to-day site operations and construction activities
    Leading direct labour, subcontractors and supply chain partners on site
    Ensuring all works are delivered safely and in accordance with project requirements
    Driving health, safety, environmental and quality standards across the project
    Coordinating plant, materials and labour resources to maintain project programme
    Delivering daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inductions
    Monitoring productivity and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
    Working closely with Site Agents, Engineers and Project Managers to achieve project objectives
    Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progressRequirements

    Proven experience as a General Foreman, Foreman or Works Manager within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
    Strong background managing site teams on construction projects
    Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice
    Ability to coordinate multiple work activities and subcontractors
    Strong communication and leadership skills
    SSSTS or SMSTS certification
    CSCS CardDesirable Experience

    Water or wastewater infrastructure projects
    Pipeline installation works
    Reinforced concrete structures
    Treatment works construction and refurbishment
    Utilities, highways, rail or heavy civil engineering environments
