How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The team specialises in acting for individuals whose rights have been infringed by public authorities, including claims against the police, public bodies and other state organisations. The successful candidate will join a growing and supportive department dedicated to securing justice for clients in complex and high-profile matters.

    Your new role

You will manage your own caseload of civil liberties matters whilst working alongside experienced lawyers within a specialist team. This role will involve:

Handling a varied caseload of civil liberties and human rights claims.
Advising clients on claims involving unlawful detention, assault, discrimination, breaches of human rights and actions against public authorities.
Conducting litigation from inception through to resolution.
Drafting pleadings, witness statements and other legal documentation.
Attending hearings, conferences and client meetings where required.
Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.
Contributing to business development initiatives and maintaining strong client relationships.

    What you'll need to succeed

Qualified Solicitor or chartered legal executive
Knowledge of civil liberties, human rights and public authority claims preferred
Part 7 litigation experience required for those looking to retrain
Proven experience managing litigated matters from initial instruction to conclusion.
Excellent client care and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

    What you'll get in return

Opportunity to join a specialist and highly regarded civil liberties team
    High-quality and challenging caseload.
Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package (up to £65,000 for those with civil liberties experience and up to £55,000 for those looking to retrain).
Ongoing training and career development opportunities.
    Supportive and inclusive working environment.
Clear opportunities for progression within a growing department.
