How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role Summary:


    The Digital Product Owner will support the successful delivery of Wattle’s website and portal projects by translating client needs into clear requirements, user stories and actionable product backlogs.


    The role will act as a practical bridge between clients, project managers, creative designers and developers. They will support discovery workshops, review wireframes, capture web and portal requirements, and help ensure digital solutions are clear, usable and aligned to Wattle’s product and delivery standards.


    This is a developing Product Owner role. The successful candidate will not be expected to own full product strategy, but they will need strong digital and web knowledge, confidence working with technical teams, and the ability to turn client conversations into structured delivery outputs where required.


    This is an hybrid role where you will be expected to be in the office two days a week (Tuesday & Wednesday) with the option to work the remaining three days from home.


    Key Responsibilities:


    1. Requirements and discovery

    • Support and, where appropriate, lead digital and web-facing workshops.
    • Capture clear website and portal requirements from clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Translate business needs into structured requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Ask clear follow-up questions to uncover user needs, edge cases and delivery risks.
    • Support functional consultants and project managers during discovery and design phases.

    2. Backlog and user story ownership

    • Create and maintain backlogs for assigned projects.
    • Write user stories and acceptance criteria that are clear, testable and ready for development.
    • Help prioritise backlog items based on client value, delivery sequencing and technical dependencies.
    • Support backlog refinement with developers, designers and project managers.
    • Maintain good governance in Azure DevOps or equivalent delivery tools.

    3. Wireframe and design feedback

    • Review wireframes and design outputs against agreed requirements.
    • Check that proposed work aligns with Wattle’s MemEx product capability
    • Provide clear, structured feedback to designers and project teams.
    • Support the fit-out of web components and help identify where existing components can be reused.
    • Escalate design or product alignment concerns to the Senior Product Manager where needed.

    4. Digital and web delivery support

    • Support website and portal projects from discovery through build, testing and launch.
    • Field basic technical questions from non-technical stakeholders (internal and externally)
    • Help clarify front-end, CMS, SEO, analytics and accessibility considerations.
    • Support issue triage for basic bugs and front-end fixes, working with developers where required.

    5. CMS and product knowledge

    • Support CMS training for internal teams and clients.
    • Help maintain web and component guidance, including the Wattle component library where required.
    • Create or update supporting documentation such as user guides, training notes and feature information.
    • Build knowledge of MemEx, Umbraco, portal functionality and wider Wattle delivery standards.

    6. Delivery ceremonies and collaboration

    • Support sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
    • Work closely with project managers to keep delivery activity clear and well sequenced.
    • Collaborate with developers to clarify requirements before and during build.
    • Support progress reporting by flagging risks, blockers or unclear requirements early and often.
    • Work under the guidance of the Senior Product Manager to align delivery work with product direction and the overall product roadmap.



    Skills and experience:


    Essential

    • Experience working in digital, web, product, business analysis or delivery roles.
    • Good understanding of website delivery, CMS platforms and digital user journeys.
    • Ability to write clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Confidence supporting workshops and stakeholder discussions.
    • Ability to review wireframes/designs and provide practical, structured feedback.
    • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Good attention to detail and ability to organise information clearly.
    • Comfortable working with developers, designers and project managers (confident in translating technical jargon to non-technical roles)
    • Working knowledge of agile delivery practices.

    Desirable

    • Experience with Umbraco or another CMS.
    • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Jira or similar backlog tools.
    • Awareness of front-end principles, HTML, CSS and responsive design.
    • Experience working client side (in an agency or consultancy environment)
    • Related or similar qualification in Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and/or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)

    • Wireframe/design judgement - can review designs and spot gaps, inconsistencies or delivery risks.
    • Delivery awareness - understands how product decisions affect project delivery.
    • Learning mindset - willing to develop into a broader Product Owner role over time
