How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Please note: this role is based in the Cayman Islands and will require relocation to Cayman.

    Associate – Public M&A / Capital Markets

    MRA Search is partnering exclusively with Conyers in their search for an ambitious and enthusiastic lawyer to join its growing public company group, part of our wider Corporate Department, in the Cayman Islands.

    The team has extensive experience advising a wide range of the largest international corporations, investment banks, private equity sponsors, and institutional investors on public mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets transactions, and complex cross corporate advisory matters, including takeovers and take-privates, schemes of arrangement, IPOs, secondary offerings, SPACs, and cross-border M&A transactions.

    Conyers is part of the offshore ‘Magic Circle’, with strength and depth across a variety of practice groups. Specifically, Conyers’ public company practice in the Cayman Islands is recognised as a leading offshore practice and forms part of a wider multi-jurisdictional corporate and transactional practice so you can also expect to work closely with colleagues in our offices in Bermuda, BVI, Hong Kong, Singapore and London as part of providing a seamless client experience on multi-jurisdictional matters.

    What Will You Do

    • Advise leading publicly listed global corporations, investment banks, private equity sponsors, and institutional investors on a broad range of public M&A and equity and debt capital markets transactions, involving stock exchanges such as the NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, ASX and HKSE and financial regulators such as the SEC, FCA and ASIC, gaining direct exposure to the most sophisticated and high-profile work in the offshore corporate market;
    • Working closely with onshore counsel to guide clients through the full lifecycle of public company transactions, from initial structuring, due diligence and transactional documentation through to completion and post-closing matters, including advising on offer documents, prospectuses, shareholder circulars and proxy statements, merger agreements and regulatory filings;
    • Collaborate closely with partners and senior associates who are committed to your professional development, receiving hands-on mentorship and meaningful feedback;
    • Engage directly with clients from day one, building lasting relationships with onshore legal counsel and in-house legal teams at corporations, investment banks, and private equity sponsors;
    • Contribute to multi-jurisdictional matters alongside colleagues in our global offices, broadening your perspective and skill set across the world's premier offshore corporate and transactional jurisdictions;
    • Participate in business development initiatives, industry events, and thought leadership opportunities;
    • Contribute to know‑how, client alerts, training and business development initiatives that reinforce the firm’s market‑leading corporate and transactional practice.

    What You’ll Need

    • 5 - 7 years’ relevant PQE, with broad public M&A and/or equity and debt capital markets experience gained in a recognised practice, ideally including experience of working on public takeovers, IPOs, or other complex cross-border transactional matters. We would also welcome interest from lawyers with other complementary corporate or transactional experience with a strong interest in developing their career offshore;
    • Admitted, or eligible to be admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar (this means candidates who are admitted in Cayman, Australia, New Zealand, England & Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, BVI (Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court) or Bermuda).
    • Strong academics;
    • Excellent technical and drafting skills;
    • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines;
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
    • Excellent communication skills; and
    • Outgoing personality with an interest in business development.
