How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour, depending on experience
    Hours: 45 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Flexible Start Times Between 6:00am - 6:00pm
    Shift Pattern: Early, late and flexible shifts available
    Overtime: Paid at time and a half

    The Role
    As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for:
    ·Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs.
    ·Carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
    ·Preparing vehicles for MOT.
    ·Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults.
    ·Repairing and overhauling hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    ·Completing repair and service documentation accurately.
    ·Ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
    ·Maintaining excellent standards of workmanship and workshop housekeeping.
    ·Working as part of a professional team to minimise vehicle downtime.

    What We're Looking For
    We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Technician with:
    ·Minimum Level 2 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair; Level 3 is preferred.
    ·NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
    ·Time-served HGV Technicians will also be considered.
    ·Previous experience in HGV maintenance, servicing and repair.
    ·Experience preparing vehicles for MOT.
    ·Strong mechanical and fault-finding skills.
    ·A proactive attitude and commitment to quality workmanship.
    ·The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    ·A willingness to continue developing technical skills through manufacturer training.

    Shift Pattern
    The workshop operates 24 hours a day, Monday to Friday, providing flexibility across a range of shift patterns.
    This means shifts can range from early starts through to later finishes, with the exact pattern discussed during the recruitment process.
