How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Automotive Technical Author

    Location: Gaydon, Warwickshire

    Type: Full-time, permanent

    Are you a Vehicle Technician looking to apply your automotive knowledge towards a career away from the workshop?

    A Technical Author who can use their strong knowledge of vehicle systems and apply this to creating content for new vehicles?

    Do you have hands-on experience working with vehicles and are a quick learner when it comes to software?

    Join our friendly team to create technical documentation for a well-known automotive OEM. We’re interested in dynamic, engaging individuals with relevant qualifications and experience in related vehicle technician, master technician, vehicle engineering, electrical, mechanical, diagnostic, body repair or technical documentation fields.

    Who we’re looking for:

    * Strong automotive system knowledge and hands-on vehicle experience is a must. Electric and hybrid knowledge would be an advantage.

    * Good level of IT literacy in Microsoft Office, with knowledge of CAD modelling software and CMS systems would be beneficial.

    * Ability to deliver quality and consistency in a highly demanding environment.

    * Proactive, flexible, and able to work independently.

    * Good communication and professionalism to liaise with technicians, engineers, and senior management.

    * Pragmatic and imaginative with the ability to think laterally in solving problems and delivering solutions.

    * Technical Authoring competence or experience would be beneficial – we will provide training on all Technical Authoring software!

    Responsibilities:

    Working closely with Aftersales and alongside engineering, the Automotive Technical Author role is focused on one or more of the following workstreams:

    *

    * 2D/3D Workshop Manual/Process Instructions

    * 3D Electrical Information towards diagnostics

    * Text and illustration-based Service Communications

    * 3D Illustrated Parts Catalogues

    * 2D/3D eLearning Modules

    * 3D Description & Operation

    * Owners Literature

    * Illustrations Authoring

    * Responsible for the creation of technical information to support vehicles in Aftersales.

    * Plan, manage and deliver projects against a project plan on time and to a high standard.

    * Collaborate with technicians and engineers to gather technical information and author accurate and robust content.

    * Use and manipulate CAD for use in technical content.

    * Update and maintain technical content to align with engineering changes as well as internal and external feedback.

    * Arrange and support physical validations of authored content when required to ensure correct information.

    * Follow quality processes and carry out sign-off ahead of publish.
