How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design Manager – Aviation

    Location: Stansted
    Salary: Up to £75,000
    Benefits: Company car or car allowance, Bupa healthcare, 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase up to three additional days

    An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join one of the UK’s largest and most respected infrastructure and construction organisations.

    Based in Stansted (2-3 days a week), you’ll provide technical leadership across major aviation and intelligent building projects, leading the delivery of safe, compliant and innovative electrical and building services designs.

    With a substantial forward order book, continued investment and ambitious growth plans, this is an excellent opportunity to join a secure, progressive business offering genuine long-term career development.

    The role of Design Manager

    Reporting to the Technical Director, you will:

    * Lead, manage and develop the design team

    * Plan and allocate design resources across multiple projects

    * Oversee electrical and building services design delivery

    * Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, legislation, technical standards and internal governance

    * Lead technical reviews, site visits and stakeholder meetings

    * Develop and review technical scopes, specifications and design solutions

    * Support tendering, procurement and project delivery teams

    * Review and approve design deliverables for quality, compliance and buildability

    * Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers

    * Drive innovation through BIM and other digital engineering solutions

    * Manage design changes and identify associated commercial implications

    * Ensure the effective handover of design information to construction, commissioning and operational teams

    About you

    You’ll be an experienced Design Manager or senior engineering professional with a strong background in electrical engineering, building services or complex infrastructure design.

    You should be able to demonstrate:

    * Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams

    * Strong knowledge of electrical and building services systems

    * Experience delivering projects within complex operational environments

    * A thorough understanding of CDM, design governance and change control

    * The ability to review and approve technical specifications and design deliverables

    * Strong commercial awareness and a focus on buildable, value-led solutions

    * Confidence engaging with clients, consultants, contractors and senior stakeholders

    Experience within aviation, airports, transport hubs or intelligent building systems would be particularly beneficial. However, applications are also welcomed from candidates with transferable experience gained across major infrastructure or complex building services projects.

    Why apply?

    This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to join a major, financially secure organisation delivering some of the UK’s most important and technically challenging infrastructure projects.

    The business invests heavily in professional development, leadership training and clearly defined career pathways. For the right person, there is significant potential to progress into more senior technical and operational leadership positions.

    The package includes:

    * Salary up to £75,000

    * Company car or car allowance

    * Bupa private healthcare

    * 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays

    * Option to purchase up to three additional days

    * Comprehensive pension scheme

    * Paid professional membership

    * Corporate discounts and Cycle to Work scheme

    * Flexible and agile working opportunities where appropriate

    * Structured training, mentoring and leadership development
