How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Transport Planner

    Burntwood | On-site | Up to £32,000 + Benefits

    Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-8:00pm

Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for your next move?

We're working with a well-established and growing logistics business that is looking to add an experienced transport professional to its team in Burntwood.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the fast-paced nature of transport operations, likes being in control of the day's activity and is confident dealing with hauliers, customers and unexpected challenges.

    The Opportunity

You'll play a key role in the day-to-day planning and coordination of UK road freight, making sure collections and deliveries happen on time and customer expectations are met.

No two days will be the same. You'll be responsible for planning transport, monitoring vehicles, dealing with delays and changes, and making quick decisions to keep everything moving.

The business offers a supportive working environment, a stable platform to develop your transport career and the opportunity to take ownership of a busy operation.

    What You'll Be Doing

Plan and schedule daily UK collections and deliveries.
Coordinate closely with hauliers and transport partners to ensure work is completed as planned.
Monitor vehicle movements and react quickly to delays, breakdowns, traffic issues and customer changes.
Re-plan transport when required to protect service levels.
    Prioritise urgent and time-critical shipments.
Maximise the efficient use of vehicles, hauliers and available transport resources.
Build strong working relationships with subcontractors and transport partners.
Handle customer queries and resolve transport-related issues professionally.
Keep transport and shipment records accurate and up to date.
Use internal transport management systems to monitor and control daily operations.
Support the wider operations team and contribute to a positive team environment.

    What We're Looking For

We're ideally looking for someone with previous experience in UK road freight, transport planning or transport operations.

    You'll need:

Good knowledge of UK transport and road freight operations.
Experience planning or coordinating collections and deliveries.
Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with hauliers and customers.
Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
Strong attention to detail and administration skills.
Experience using a TMS or logistics software.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
The ability to stay calm and make decisions when things don't go to plan.Experience with subcontracted hauliers, general haulage, pallet networks, transport compliance or KPI reporting would be advantageous.

    Why Consider This Role?

This isn't simply a job where you'll be moving loads around a system. You'll have genuine responsibility for keeping the operation running smoothly and will be trusted to make decisions when challenges arise.

You'll be joining an established logistics business with a strong operational footprint, where there is scope to build on your existing transport experience and develop your career further.

    The package includes:

    Salary up to £32,000
    30 days' holiday (22 days + 8 bank holidays)
    Company pension
    Healthcare scheme
    Free on-site parking
    Stable, established business
    Monday-Friday working pattern
Opportunity to develop within a busy transport operation
If you're an experienced Transport Planner, Transport Controller or Road Freight Coordinator who wants a role where you can take ownership, solve problems and keep a busy operation moving, we'd be keen to hear from you.
