How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Support Electrical Project Managers and senior commercial staff in managing subcontract packages and project variations.
    * Track project progress against commercial deadlines and regularly update senior management on margin and cash flow performance.
    * Prepare professional tender documentation, interim applications, and commercial reports in line with company standards.
    * Attend client, M&E consultant, and main contractor meetings, recording accurate notes and action points.
    * Carry out site visits to complete measure-offs, assess progress on cable pulls, containment, and second-fix installations.
Core Duties: Working alongside the Operations Director, responsibilities will include:
    * Assisting with monthly project cost reports (CVRs) and electrical commercial updates.
    * Preparing cost plans, approximate estimates, electrical Schedules of Rates, and detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
    * Supporting specialist procurement activities, including electrical materials, switchgear, containment, and sub-contractor tender analysis.
    * Assisting with the administration of subcontracts (JCT / NEC) tailored to M&E services.
    * Preparing interim valuations, assessing sub-contractor payment applications, managing variations/EWNs, and settling final accounts.
    * Maintaining and updating electrical cost databases, pricing schedules, and rate benchmarking.
    * Supporting formal change control processes for scope variations across both pre-contract and post-contract stages.
    About You:
    * An interest in Quantity surveying and perhaps a relevant qualification (HND, BSc, or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Building Services, or Electrical Engineering.
    * Previous commercial experience or placement exposure within an M&E sub-contractor, commercial QS environment is desirable.
    * A genuine desire to build a successful career within the M&E and electrical engineering sectors.
    * Strong numerical skills with an aptitude for reading drawings and understanding specifications.
    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    * A full UK driving licence (desirable for site visits across Bedfordshire and London).
    * Professionalism, humour and the grit required for a fast-paced contracting environment
