How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Shift Engineer

    Indian Queens, Cornwall | £52,000 rising to £58,000 + 10% bonus

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Shift Engineer to join a specialist power generation facility in Indian Queens.

    The company is looking for Electrical or Mechanical Engineers from any industrial, manufacturing, process or engineering background and will provide full training, including development towards HV Authorisation and Senior Authorised Person responsibilities up to 400kV.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to move into the power generation sector without needing previous power station experience.

    Salary & Benefits

    * £52,000 starting salary

    * £55,000 after the initial 3-month training period

    * £58,000 once fully competent, typically within 9–12 months

    * 10% performance-related bonus

    * 28 days holiday including bank holidays

    * Private medical insurance for employee, spouse and dependants

    * Private dental cover

    * Gym membership contribution

    * Cycle to work and EV salary sacrifice schemes

    * Aviva salary sacrifice pension

    The Role

    The Shift Engineer will operate and maintain the power station safely and efficiently, ensuring the asset meets contractual and operational requirements. Working as part of a small engineering team, the role involves planned and reactive maintenance, electrical and mechanical fault finding, isolations, safety-to-work documentation and supporting LV/HV operations from 6.6kV up to 400kV. The position operates on a predominantly lone-working shift basis.

    Shift Pattern

    The role operates on a rotating shift pattern covering days, evenings and nights, with regular periods of time off built into the rota. Typical shifts are 07:00–14:00, 14:00–22:00 and 22:00–07:00, with 12-hour weekend day and night shifts included within the rotation.

    About You

    Candidates should hold a recognised engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and have experience in maintenance and fault finding within a manufacturing, industrial, utilities, process or similar engineering environment. A strong electrical or mechanical background is required, along with good Health & Safety awareness and the ability to work independently.

    Experience of HV/LV systems, permit-to-work procedures, isolations or power generation would be beneficial but is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.

    This is an excellent long-term career opportunity offering structured training, rapid salary progression from £52,000 to £58,000 within the first year, a 10% bonus and an outstanding benefits package.

    Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be able to complete the required pre-employment screening and security checks
