How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer 
    Location: Cambridge (On-Site Working)
    Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + Bonus & Benefits (Depending on Experience)

    Overview: 

    An opportunity has arisen with a repeat client who are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join their  growing engineering team developing embedded software for next-generation electronic control systems.

    A successful candidate will be working  closely with experienced software, systems and hardware engineers to deliver high-quality solutions and contribute to exciting new technologies.

    This role is ideal for someone with 1+ year of commercial experience looking to make their first career move, with the opportunity to take ownership, develop their skills and contribute to new products and technologies within a growing engineering function.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Develop and maintain embedded software for prototype and production systems.
    Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through to implementation, testing and deployment.
    Develop embedded C software and reusable libraries/components across multiple products.
    Plan and execute software testing, verification and validation activities.
    Collaborate closely with software, systems and hardware engineering teams in an agile environment.
    Follow and contribute to engineering, quality, safety and cybersecurity processes and standards.
    Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to continuous improvement of development and testing processes. Required Skills & Experience:

    Commercial experience developing embedded software within a regulated environment.
    Strong C programming skills, ideally in safety-critical embedded applications.
    Good knowledge of MISRA C and embedded software development best practices.
    Experience with 32-bit CPUs, FPUs, interrupts, peripherals and real-time programming.
    Experience developing device drivers
    Understanding of software development, testing and quality processes.
    Experience with communication and development tools, such as Vector tools
