How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Technical Instructor - Aviation

    Teesside | Permanent | £57,000 per annum

    Vacancy ID: 644

We are currently supporting a leading aviation and defence organisation in the appointment of an experienced Technical Instructor to join their Technical Training Department in Teesside.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aircraft engineer, technical trainer, or aviation professional looking to move into a role where you can use your technical expertise to develop the next generation of aviation engineering talent.

    The Role

As a Technical Instructor, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality technical and non-technical training programmes for engineers, apprentices and operational teams.

Working closely with the Examination Manager / Deputy Training Manager, you will ensure training is engaging, effective and fully aligned with relevant aviation regulations and company standards.

You will have the opportunity to deliver a varied programme of aircraft technical training, maintenance training, human factors, induction programmes and practical assessments, while contributing to the continued development of the organisation's engineering workforce.

The role also offers the opportunity for UK and international travel, including occasional deployments away from home for periods of approximately 1-5 weeks.

    Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and deliver technical and practical training programmes in accordance with Part-147, Part-66 and company requirements.
Deliver aircraft type training, technical courses, induction programmes, human factors training and other development programmes.
Create and maintain training materials, syllabi, training needs analyses and examination question banks.
Conduct examinations, practical assessments and invigilation duties where authorised.
Ensure training activities comply with UK CAA, EASA, UK MAA and other applicable aviation regulations.
Maintain accurate training records and ensure all training meets regulatory and company standards.
Mentor, coach and support engineers, apprentices and students throughout their development.
Work with internal departments to identify training requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions.
Act as a technical training focal point across the organisation.
Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
Travel within the UK and internationally when required, including occasional 1-5 week deployments.

    What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with aviation professionals who have a strong technical background and either existing training experience or a genuine interest in moving into technical instruction.

    Essential

Previous experience delivering technical, engineering, maintenance or aviation-related training.
Good working knowledge of UK CAA and EASA regulations.
Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Competent with Microsoft Office and training development tools.
Ability to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.
Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and internationally.

    Desirable

    The following would be advantageous:

Experience within a Part-147 approved training organisation.
Knowledge of Part-66 training and aircraft maintenance licensing.
    Part-66 B1 or B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.
Teaching, Training, Assessing or Learning & Development qualification.
Degree in Aeronautical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is more than a traditional training position. You will be using your aviation engineering knowledge to directly influence competence, safety and operational capability across a highly skilled workforce.

The successful candidate will join an organisation operating across the UK, US and NATO countries, supporting advanced aviation and defence training capabilities.

The company offers a competitive benefits package, including:

    £57,000 salary
Up to 12% matching pension contributions
    Bonus incentives
    Private Medical Insurance discounts
    Electric vehicle scheme
