How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Maintain consistent follow-up activity and develop a strong employer pipeline.

    * Achieve agreed KPIs for calls, meetings, qualified opportunities, employer sign-ups and apprenticeship starts.

    Employer Engagement

    * Build strong professional relationships with science-sector employers and key decision-makers.

    * Engage with HR, L&D, recruitment, laboratory, technical and operational stakeholders.

    * Understand employer recruitment and skills challenges and identify suitable apprenticeship opportunities.

    * Promote relevant science apprenticeship programmes and provide initial guidance on funding routes.

    * Identify levy transfer opportunities and refer complex funding queries appropriately.

    * Attend relevant science-sector networking, employer forums and industry events.

    Science Sector Development

    * Develop strong knowledge of science employers, apprenticeship standards and career pathways.

    * Understand workforce and skills challenges across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, diagnostics and wider science sectors.

    * Keep up to date with developments across relevant science and technical industries.

    * Use sector knowledge to make credible, targeted approaches to prospective employers.

    * Build and maintain a professional network of science-sector contacts.

    CRM & Sales Administration

    * Maintain accurate CRM records of prospecting, employer engagement, opportunities and next steps.

    * Manage follow-ups effectively and ensure opportunities progress promptly.

    * Provide regular pipeline updates and ensure accurate information before employer onboarding.

    * Work closely with Business Development, delivery, compliance and learner engagement teams.

    Team Collaboration

    * Work closely with the Business Development Manager to achieve individual and team targets.

    * Support wider business development campaigns and sector-specific initiatives.

    * Share market intelligence, employer feedback and new opportunities with colleagues.

    * Participate in pipeline reviews, sales meetings, performance discussions and professional development.
