How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: Gas Responsible Person
    Location: Upavon, covering the Wiltshire area
    Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
    Salary: £51,308.48 per annum (when fully trained and appointed)

    The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Gas Responsible Person to join our Compliance team, providing expert technical leadership and ensuring the safe operation and management of gas systems across a diverse property and infrastructure portfolio.

    This is an excellent opportunity to become the recognised technical authority for gas compliance within your area. You will be responsible for ensuring that natural gas, LPG and associated systems are managed safely and in full compliance with statutory legislation and relevant industry and client requirements.

    Your expertise will play a key role in protecting people, maintaining operational capability and ensuring the estate remains safe, compliant and well maintained.

    Key Responsibilities
    Oversee gas compliance activities across the estate, ensuring statutory inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance programmes are delivered effectively.
    Monitor performance against key compliance requirements and identify areas for improvement.
    Conduct regular audits and assurance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked and completed.
    Provide specialist technical advice on gas infrastructure, procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
    Support the design, installation and commissioning of new and existing gas systems.
    Investigate gas-related incidents, identify root causes and recommend practical improvements.
    Identify and manage gas-related risks across the estate.
    Maintain accurate compliance records and ensure appropriate control measures are in place for high-risk assets.
    Provide technical guidance during planned works and operational incidents.
    Support emergency responses where required.
    Work closely with contractors, supply chain partners, operational teams and project managers.
    Verify contractor competence and ensure gas-related works are undertaken by appropriately qualified personnel.
    Produce assurance reports and present technical findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
    Coach and support operational teams, helping to develop gas safety awareness and promote a strong culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
    Carry out regular site visits and travel across the wider estate.
    Provide occasional out-of-hours support for critical compliance issues and participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota.About You

    You'll have extensive experience managing gas compliance across large property, infrastructure or facilities management portfolios, together with a thorough understanding of:

    Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations
    Gas Safety Management Regulations
    Relevant British Standards
    Wider health and safety legislationYou will be confident delivering compliance assurance, conducting technical audits and making informed, risk-based decisions within a highly regulated environment.

    Excellent communication, stakeholder management and reporting skills are essential. You'll also need the ability to analyse technical information, solve complex problems and drive continuous improvement.

    Essential Qualifications & Experience
    Current ACS Gas qualifications appropriate to the scope of the role.
    Recognised Mechanical or Building Services qualification, such as:
    NVQ Level 3
    HNC
    HND
    Equivalent qualification
    Extensive experience managing gas compliance across a large property, infrastructure or facilities management portfolio.
    Strong knowledge of relevant gas safety legislation and standards.
    Experience undertaking compliance audits and assurance activities.
    Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.Desirable Experience & QualificationsThe following would be advantageous:

    Experience within Defence, MOD, Facilities Management or another highly regulated environment.
    Knowledge of LPG systems.
    Knowledge of MOD Gas Safety Cases and relevant engineering standards.
    Knowledge of IGEM/GL/6.
    SCO competencies.
    EUSR Gas registration.
    Engineering Technician (EngTech) status.
    IOSH Managing Safely.
    NEBOSH General Certificate.
    Membership of a relevant professional body, or willingness to work towards professional accreditation.What We Offer
