How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

A growing and award-winning main contractor is looking to appoint a Design Manager to join its expanding team in Corby.

Operating across the later living, multi-room and life science sectors, the business delivers high-quality, design-led projects typically ranging from £10m–£30m. With a strong reputation for repeat business, modern delivery methods and a collaborative working culture, the company offers an excellent environment for long-term career development and progression.

Applications are welcomed from Junior Design Managers looking to take the next step in their career, experienced Design Managers seeking a new challenge, or Architects interested in moving into a main contractor environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking contractor recognised for rapid growth, strong financial stability and a people-focused culture, where you’ll work closely with project delivery teams and play a key role in bringing complex projects from concept through to completion.

    The Role

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to project completion. Working alongside project teams, consultants, clients and subcontractors, you'll ensure designs are coordinated, compliant and delivered effectively in line with programme and budget requirements.

You will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a business that promotes autonomy, innovation and continuous improvement, offering clear progression pathways and the chance to influence best practice across multiple projects.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process from tender stage through to project completion.

Review and manage consultant and subcontractor design information.

Ensure compliance with client requirements, Building Regulations and statutory approvals.

Coordinate architectural, structural and M&E design elements across multiple projects.

Chair design team meetings and manage project design reviews.

Monitor design progress against programme requirements and resolve design-related issues.

Support project teams with technical queries and buildability assessments.

Manage RFIs, drawing registers and design change control procedures.

Liaise closely with site teams to ensure coordinated design information is delivered efficiently.

Assist with value engineering exercises while maintaining quality and specification standards.

Ensure design documentation is issued accurately and in line with project deadlines.

Contribute to successful project delivery, client satisfaction and commercial performance.

    Requirements

Experience working as a Design Manager within the construction industry.

Strong understanding of design coordination, technical detailing and project delivery.

Experience managing consultant teams, subcontractor design packages and design programmes.

Membership of CIOB or an equivalent professional body would be advantageous.

Knowledge of Building Regulations, planning requirements and statutory approvals.

Ability to identify and resolve design and buildability issues effectively.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple disciplines.

Highly organised with strong attention to detail and document control capabilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Degree qualified in Architecture, Construction Management, Architectural Technology or a related discipline preferred.
