How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong leader who combines hands-on engineering expertise with strategic technology leadership. You'll act as the senior technical authority for the financial planning ecosystem, driving platform evolution, integration strategy, engineering excellence and team development.

Working at the intersection of Financial Planning, CRM, Data and Wealth Technology, you'll play a key role in shaping the future technology landscape supporting advisers and clients across the organisation.

    The Role

As Engineering Lead, you'll own the design, development, integration and operation of the firm's financial planning platform, ensuring it remains scalable, secure and fit for future growth.

You'll provide technical leadership across engineering teams, establish best practice standards, mentor colleagues, and guide architectural decisions, while maintaining a hands-on involvement in platform delivery and optimisation.

Key platform integrations include Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, enterprise data platforms, middleware technologies, APIs and wealth management systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    Technical Leadership

Act as the senior technical authority for the financial planning domain.
Define and maintain engineering standards covering code quality, documentation, testing and release management.
Lead architecture and design decisions, ensuring scalability, maintainability and security.
Conduct technical design reviews and provide expert guidance across engineering teams.
Balance delivery objectives with technical debt management and platform sustainability.

    Engineering & Delivery

Champion modern engineering practices including CI/CD, Git-based development, automated testing and code review.
Support Agile delivery through Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
Design and oversee integrations using REST APIs, SOAP services and event-driven architectures.
Drive adoption of middleware and integration technologies.
Contribute to the development of APIs, web applications, serverless solutions and microservices using technologies such as Python or Java.
Ensure solutions meet security, compliance and data protection requirements.

    Team Leadership

Mentor and develop engineers, configuration specialists and platform administrators.
Help build engineering capability and promote best practice across technical and non-technical teams.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, compliance teams, architects and engineering leaders within a "build it, run it" environment.

    iRESS Xplan Platform Ownership

Lead configuration and customisation of Xplan workflows, forms, templates, campaigns and business processes.
Design and maintain integrations between Xplan and connected platforms, including CRM and data solutions.
Oversee platform upgrades, releases and vendor-led enhancements.
Manage troubleshooting, root cause analysis and platform optimisation activities.
Support data migration initiatives including cleansing, mapping and validation exercises.
Ensure platform security and permissions are effectively managed in a regulated environment.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential Experience

Strong experience with iRESS Xplan, including configuration, customisation and integration.
Proven leadership experience within software engineering or platform engineering environments.
Strong understanding of API design and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience delivering solutions within regulated financial services environments.
Knowledge of cloud and middleware technologies, including serverless architectures.
Experience working with modern SDLC practices and Agile delivery methods.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Understanding of data platforms and operational data models.

    Highly Desirable

Wealth management, private banking or investment platform experience.
Experience integrating Xplan with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud.
Knowledge of financial planning and adviser back-office processes.
Experience managing vendor relationships and influencing product roadmaps.
Track record of building internal capability and reducing reliance on external implementation partners.
Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
Experience developing AI-enabled or agentic solutions within financial services.
