How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Job Title: Senior Civil CAD Technician

    Division: Infrastructure & Civil Engineering

Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland (Hybrid Working Available)

    💡 About Us

Ayesa Engineering is a global consultancy with more than 3,200 employees. Its UK & Ireland business combines the strength and resources of an international organisation with the agility and autonomy typically associated with an SME.

Operating in 16 countries across 40 disciplines, Ayesa Engineering generates annual revenues of approximately €312 million and has established a strong international reputation across a broad range of engineering sectors. Its expertise spans water and flood infrastructure, transportation, marine and coastal engineering, geoscience, environmental services, energy, and building structures.

The UK & Ireland teams deliver technically complex and varied projects that enable professionals to develop broad expertise rather than being confined to highly specialised roles. This provides the opportunity to make a meaningful local impact while benefiting from the stability, technical knowledge, and career development opportunities of a well-established global consultancy.

    What You Will Be Doing:

As a Senior Civil CAD Technician, you will play a key role in the delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Northern Ireland, the UK, and Ireland. You will be responsible for producing and coordinating high-quality Civil 3D models and technical drawings while providing technical guidance and support to junior technicians and project teams.

Working closely with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary design teams, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Producing and reviewing detailed 2D and 3D civil engineering drawings and models using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

    * Developing and managing Civil 3D models, including surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, grading designs, and utility networks.

    * Leading the production of design deliverables for planning, detailed design, tender, and construction stages.

    * Coordinating CAD and BIM information across multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration and consistency.

    * Reviewing and checking drawings and models to ensure compliance with company standards, client specifications, and industry requirements.

    * Supporting engineers with the development of technical design solutions and constructability considerations.

    * Assisting with project planning, resource allocation, and delivery programmes to meet project deadlines.

    * Mentoring and providing technical support to junior CAD Technicians and Apprentices.

    * Contributing to the development and implementation of CAD standards, templates, and best practices.

    * Managing drawing registers, revisions, and document control procedures throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Identifying opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency, and quality through the effective use of Civil 3D technology and digital engineering tools.

    What You Bring:

    * Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Civil CAD Technician within a civil engineering consultancy, contractor, or infrastructure environment.

    * Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

    * Demonstrable experience producing and coordinating detailed civil engineering drawings and 3D models for infrastructure projects.

    * Strong knowledge of Civil 3D features including surfaces, corridors, alignments, profiles, grading, and utility design.

    * Experience working on infrastructure projects such as highways, drainage, water, utilities, flood alleviation, or development infrastructure schemes.

    * Understanding of UK and Irish engineering drawing standards and industry best practice.

    * Experience reviewing and checking technical drawings and mentoring junior team members.

    * Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

    * Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

    * HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Engineering Design, CAD, or a related discipline.

    * Knowledge of BIM processes and common data environments would be advantageous.

    * Experience with additional software such as Autodesk Navisworks, InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, or ProjectWise would be beneficial.
