How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    IT Manager

    Location: Kent – Multi-Site
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm

Absolute Law Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a long-established and highly respected law firm with offices across Kent.

The firm is committed to delivering a professional, approachable and client-focused service, while providing a supportive and collaborative working environment for its employees.

    The Role

We are seeking an experienced, proactive and well-rounded IT Manager to take ownership of the firm's IT function across multiple office locations.

This is a hands-on management position suited to an experienced IT professional who is confident across the full IT environment and understands both day-to-day user requirements and the infrastructure supporting a modern professional services organisation.

You will be responsible for the management, security, performance, maintenance and development of the firm's IT infrastructure, while remaining hands-on and providing technical support when required.

The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of servers, networks, Microsoft 365, SQL databases, cybersecurity, backups, systems integration, hardware, software, user access and third-party suppliers.

You will take ownership of the IT environment, proactively identify potential issues, recommend improvements and ensure systems remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose.

The role will also involve occasional travel between offices across Kent to provide support, oversee infrastructure and deliver IT projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Take overall responsibility for IT infrastructure, systems and technology across all office locations.

    * Manage and maintain servers, networks, Microsoft 365, hardware, cloud systems and SQL databases.

    * Oversee the firm's case management system, Partner for Windows (Tikit), including configuration, access, updates and support.

    * Manage user accounts, permissions, onboarding, offboarding and system access.

    * Maintain effective cybersecurity, backup, disaster recovery and data protection processes.

    * Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and provide hands-on support where required.

    * Lead IT projects including system upgrades, migrations, infrastructure improvements and new technology implementations.

    * Manage IT suppliers, software providers and external contractors.

    * Ensure all IT systems remain secure, reliable, well maintained and aligned with business requirements.

    * Provide technical guidance and support to staff across all offices.

    * Maintain consistent IT standards and best practice across the organisation.

    * Travel between office locations when required.

    Candidate Requirements

    * Proven experience as an IT Manager, IT Infrastructure Manager, Senior IT Engineer or similar senior IT position.

    * Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Windows, networking, servers, cloud systems and hardware.

    * Strong SQL and database experience is essential.

    * Experience managing cybersecurity, backups, disaster recovery and user access.

    * Experience supporting business-critical systems and managing external IT suppliers.

    * Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and project management skills.

    * Proactive, organised and able to work independently while managing competing priorities.

    * Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical users.

    * A hands-on approach, with the ability to manage the wider IT function while remaining technically involved.

    * Previous experience within the legal sector or professional services is desirable but not essential.

    * Willingness to travel between the firm's offices when required.

    Additional Information

Some out-of-hours work may occasionally be required depending on business needs, system upgrades or IT projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional looking for a senior, hands-on IT management role where they can take ownership of a varied and business-critical technology environment.
