How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and delivering the company's commercial strategy, with a strong focus on increasing revenue, improving margins and developing long-term customer partnerships.

Working closely with the wider management team, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities within existing accounts, supporting new business activity and ensuring the sales function operates effectively.

The role would suit an experienced B2B Sales Manager with a background in engineering or a manufacturing environment, who is comfortable working with technical products and selling into established and niche markets.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve commercial objectives.

    * Identify opportunities to grow existing customer accounts and increase market share.

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and decision-makers.

    * Lead, manage and develop a small sales team, including setting objectives and providing regular coaching and support.

    * Set clear sales targets and develop structured plans to achieve revenue and growth objectives.

    * Produce accurate sales forecasts to support business and resource planning.

    * Work closely with estimating and commercial teams to support quotations and maximise conversion.

    * Actively support the sales team with negotiations, account development and closing opportunities.

    * Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities or risks.

    * Identify opportunities to improve the company's position within existing and new markets.

    * Support the development and delivery of marketing activity.

    * Maintain high standards of customer communication, administration and commercial documentation.

    * Ensure customer requirements, quality standards and contractual obligations are understood and met.

    * Work collaboratively with the wider management team to support overall business objectives.

    * Contribute to continuous improvement across the sales function and wider business.

    The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

5+ years' B2B sales experience, with some management or supervisory responsibility.

Previous experience within sheet metal, fabrication, engineering, manufacturing or a closely related industry.

Proven experience selling into niche or technical markets.

Experience managing and developing a small sales team.

A strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

Experience developing existing accounts and increasing revenue and margins.

Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of sales forecasting.

    Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.

Experience working with CRM systems and Microsoft Excel.

The ability to communicate confidently with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

The ability to build long-term customer relationships and identify new opportunities.

    Desirable

HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a mechanical-biased field.

    Time-served engineering or manufacturing apprenticeship.

    Formal sales or commercial training.

Previous experience within an SME environment.

Experience working with technical or engineered products.
