How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

With ambitious growth plans over the next three years, the estimating team will play a key role in improving the success of tenders and supporting the continued growth of the business.

    The Role

As an Estimator or Senior Estimator, you’ll play a key role in supporting continued growth. Working closely with the Bid and Operational teams, you’ll produce accurate, competitive pricing for tenders with both new and existing clients, primarily within a social housing refurbishment environment.

Assessing material, labour and plant requirements when compiling tenders
Producing tender breakdowns and substantiation, including value engineering to meet client budget requirements
Liaising with operational teams, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to establish project specifications, preliminary requirements, risks and exclusions
Attending and contributing to meetings with colleagues, clients and customers when required
Assessing commercial and operational risks associated with tender submissions
Measuring jobs from inception using SMM7, NRM or similar methods

    Requirements

Experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator, ideally within a social housing refurbishment, property services, maintenance or construction environment
Confident pricing works from first principles and experience of cost planning, with the attention to detail needed to produce accurate, commercially sound tenders
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable pricing larger-scale projects, while also managing multiple smaller tenders at the same time
Experience using Causeway or similar estimating software would be advantageous
    Commercially minded and collaborative

    Package

27 days' holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell annual leave
Company pension scheme, with contributions of up to 7.5%
    Company car or car allowance
Hybrid working, with flexible working patterns considered where possible
    Discounted healthcare scheme
High street and lifestyle discounts including Tastecard
One paid volunteering day per year
    Length of service awards
    Additional benefits available
