How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Tool Maker

    Location: Hampshire
    Rate: £15-£21 per hour depending on experience
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–4:00pm
    Permanent

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tool Maker to join a specialist automotive engineering business. 

    This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Tool Maker / Toolroom Engineer to work on a varied range of components and assemblies within a specialist vintage and classic automotive environment.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying and repairing components to engineering drawings and specifications, using a range of manual machining and toolroom techniques.

    Duties will include:

    Manual milling, turning and surface grinding.
    Bench fitting, deburring and hand finishing.
    Manufacture of components and assemblies to drawing specification.
    Stripping, assessing and rebuilding vehicle sub-assemblies.
    Modifying parts to support the vehicle workshop.
    Inspecting components and approving first-off production.
    Working to agreed production priorities and schedules.
    Completing inspection records and other production documentation.
    General workshop duties including material handling and cutting.

    The Person

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Time-served apprenticeship training.
    Strong Tool Maker / Toolroom experience.
    Good manual machining and bench-fitting skills.
    Ability to accurately work from engineering drawings.
    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    A proactive, hands-on approach.
    Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
    2–3+ years' relevant experience.
