How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Tier 1 Main Contractor

    Location: Bristol
    Salary: Negotiable DOE + Package
    Employment: Permanent

We are working with a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor who are looking to strengthen their regional Bristol commercial team with the appointment of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

This is an excellent opportunity for either a Graduate Quantity Surveyor looking to begin their career with a major contractor, or somebody already part-way through their Quantity Surveying degree who has gained some practical industry experience alongside their studies.

The contractor currently has two live schemes in the Bristol region, alongside a strong secured pipeline of future work through to 2028, offering excellent long-term prospects and the opportunity to develop within an established regional team.

    The Role

Working alongside experienced commercial professionals, you will gain exposure across the full commercial lifecycle of major construction projects, developing your experience in areas including:

    Subcontractor procurement and management
    Cost reporting and forecasting
    Valuations and variations
    Contract administration
    Measurement and take-offs
    Supporting project commercial performance
Working closely with operational and project teams

    What We're Looking For

    Candidates should either:

Hold a degree or recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, or
Be currently studying towards a Quantity Surveying degree/qualification with a clear intention to become fully qualified.
Some previous experience within a construction or commercial environment would be advantageous, particularly with a main contractor, although applications from strong graduates with relevant academic experience will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be ambitious, commercially minded and looking to build a long-term career within a Tier 1 contracting environment.

    What's on Offer?

The salary is negotiable depending on experience and current level of study, alongside a competitive wider package.

More importantly, this offers the opportunity to join a contractor with an established Bristol presence, two active projects and a secured forward workload, providing genuine stability and a clear platform for progression from Assistant Quantity Surveyor through to Quantity Surveyor and beyond.

Interested? Apply today or get in touch for a confidential conversation about the contractor, projects and opportunity.
