How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Think Accountancy & Finance are recruiting for a Financial Analyst / Management Accountant to join an established finance team in Stoke-on-Trent.
This is a varied, dual-purpose role combining management accounting with financial analysis, reporting and data interpretation across multiple business units. It would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail behind the numbers and using data to support better commercial and operational decisions.
You’ll be responsible for preparing management accounts, commentary, KPIs and variance analysis, alongside margin and branch reporting. You’ll also support budgeting, forecasting and year-end audit activity.
A key part of the role will involve analysing financial, sales, purchasing, stock and operational data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and producing clear reports and dashboards for both finance and operational teams.
You will also have the opportunity to improve existing reporting processes, data quality and efficiencies, with regular involvement in ad hoc analysis and continuous improvement projects
    The ideal candidate will have:
    • Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA status
    • Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
    • Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
    • Power BI experience, particularly dashboard design and reporting
    • Experience working with large datasets and interpreting financial information
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • A logical, analytical approach and strong attention to detail
Experience with Sage 200 and/or SQL would be advantageous.
    What’s on offer?
    • Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
    • 26 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
    • Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
    • Permanent, full-time position
    • Stoke-on-Trent location, fully office based
If you’re a part-qualified accountant with strong analytical skills and want a role that goes beyond traditional management accounts, this could be a great next step
