How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on modern digital capabilities within a highly secure Defence environment.

Develop role-aware dashboards, task views, status tracking and operational work queues.
Apply accessibility, responsive design and usability best practices.
Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint delivery, demonstrations and user feedback sessions.
Contribute to frontend testing, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

    Essential Skills & Experience

Demonstrable experience delivering software within MOD, Defence, National Security or similarly secure environments.
    Strong commercial React development experience.
    Strong TypeScript capability.
Experience consuming REST APIs and collaborating closely with backend engineering teams.
Experience building responsive, accessible and maintainable user interfaces.
Good understanding of component-based development and design system principles.
Experience using Git within agile delivery environments.

    Desirable Experience

Experience working with Figma and modern UX/design workflows.
Experience with Material UI, (url removed) Design System, MOD design patterns or equivalent component frameworks.
    Experience developing workflow-driven applications.
Experience implementing secure authentication and role-based access control.
    Experience developing search-led user interfaces.
Experience supporting applications deployed in classified or highly regulated environments.

    Mandatory Requirements

    Current DV Security Clearance.
Ability to work onsite at an MOD location in London four days per week.
Previous experience delivering within MOD, Defence, Defence Intelligence, Strategic Command or wider National Security organisations.
Comfortable working with OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE and classified material where authorised.

Agile delivery within a multidisciplinary team.
Close collaboration with Defence stakeholders, Product, Delivery, UX and Engineering teams.
Secure-by-design approach with a strong focus on audit, traceability, access control and assurance.
Practical focus on creating intuitive, reliable applications while maintaining operational accountability.

    What We're Looking For

We're interested in Front End Developers who can demonstrate:

Successful delivery within secure MOD or Defence environments.
Strong React and TypeScript development experience.
The ability to turn complex UX requirements into accessible, maintainable and intuitive interfaces.
Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A practical understanding of agile delivery and modern frontend engineering.
