How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Behaviour Support (Secondary)
    Location: Sheffield
    Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
    Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
    Start Date: September 2026

    Are you confident supporting teenagers and helping them manage behaviour and stay engaged with their education? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support professional to join their team from September.

    About the Role:

    As a Behaviour Support professional, you will work closely with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them manage challenging behaviour, remain focused in lessons and make positive choices. You may support individual pupils or small groups, work alongside subject teachers and provide guidance during lesson transitions and less structured parts of the school day.

    This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build positive relationships with adolescent learners while maintaining clear boundaries and consistent expectations.

    Responsibilities:

    Support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 with behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation.

    Work alongside subject teachers to help pupils remain focused and involved in lessons.

    Provide one-to-one and small-group support where appropriate.

    Help pupils manage transitions between lessons and different areas of the school.

    Encourage positive behaviour and reinforce clear, consistent boundaries.

    Support pupils in developing strategies to manage their behaviour and make positive choices.

    Communicate relevant observations and concerns to teaching and pastoral staff.

    Requirements:

    Previous experience supporting children or young people with behaviour is desirable.

    Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

    A calm, patient and consistent approach when managing challenging situations.

    Confidence working with adolescent learners in a secondary school environment.

    Ability to establish appropriate boundaries while maintaining positive relationships.

    A genuine commitment to helping young people engage with education.

    Experience in behaviour support, pastoral care or education is advantageous.

    To work with GSL Education as a Behaviour Support (Secondary) professional, you should:

    Have the right to work in the UK.

    Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

    Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
