How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CMM Programmer
    Northamptonshire
    £45,000.00

Fancy taking ownership of a major metrology project rather than simply running the same CMM programs every day?

We’re working with a leading high-performance engine manufacturer in Northampton, delivering precision components for some seriously exciting and lucrative engineering projects.

As part of continued investment within their manufacturing operation, they’re now looking for an experienced CMM Programmer to support a major transition within their piston manufacturing facility.

The project will involve migrating an established portfolio of Mitutoyo MCOSMOS CMM programs across to ZEISS Calypso, while continuing to support the measurement and inspection of complex, high-precision engine components.

    What you’ll be doing

    *

Programming and supporting Mitutoyo CMMs using MCOSMOS, while helping migrate programs across to ZEISS Calypso

    *

Developing and proving measurement programs for complex components including pistons, prismatic parts, cams and crankshafts

    *

Supporting NPI, First Article / ISIR reporting and investigating measurement or non-conformance issues

    *

Providing technical metrology support to production while mentoring and supporting the wider Metrology team

    What we’re looking for

    *

Strong Mitutoyo CMM programming experience, ideally using MCOSMOS 3.4

    *

Good understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, surface texture and profile measurement

    *

Strong hands-on metrology knowledge, including measurement by first principles, MSA and Gauge R&R

    *

ZEISS Calypso experience would be advantageous, but training can be provided

Previous experience working with pistons or complex engine components would be a real advantage, as would experience within high-performance automotive, motorsport, aerospace or another precision engineering environment.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced CMM Programmer who wants to move beyond day-to-day inspection and get involved in a technically interesting metrology transformation project, while working on complex components within a high-performance manufacturing environment.

If you know Mitutoyo MCOSMOS inside out and fancy getting your hands on ZEISS Calypso while working on some seriously interesting engineering projects, click apply and Kieran Evans will be in touch to discuss the finer details
