How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to join a leading Facilities Management provider on a site-based position in Hertfordshire.
    šŸ¢ This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer to take responsibility for the planned preventative and reactive maintenance of a wide range of mechanical building services, ensuring critical plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently and reliably.
    šŸ”§ What You'll Be Doing:
    āš™ļø Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across mechanical building services and associated plant.
    šŸŒ”ļø Maintaining and servicing heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems to agreed service levels.
    šŸ’§ Maintaining evaporative cooling systems and domestic water systems in line with relevant standards and requirements.
    šŸ”© Carrying out maintenance and fault-finding on pumps, motors, valves and associated mechanical equipment.
    šŸ” Diagnosing plant faults and defects and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
    šŸ› ļø Supporting maintenance activities across other site-based mechanical plant and equipment as required.
    šŸ“‹ Completing accurate maintenance records, task sheets and associated documentation.
    šŸ“ Preparing and following Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure safe working practices.
    🦺 Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and site requirements.
    šŸ¤ Building strong working relationships with colleagues, contractors and site personnel.
    šŸ“ˆ Maintaining and developing technical knowledge through ongoing training and professional development.
    šŸ‘· What We're Looking For:
    šŸ”§ Formally trained or qualified in Mechanical Services Maintenance.
    āš™ļø Proven experience maintaining pumps, motors and valves.
    šŸŒ”ļø Experience working with cooling towers or evaporative cooling systems.
    šŸ› ļø Strong practical experience within mechanical maintenance, building services or Facilities Management.
    🦺 Sound understanding of Health & Safety requirements relating to maintenance activities.
    šŸ” Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
    šŸ’¬ Good verbal communication skills and strong written English.
    šŸ¤ A customer-focused approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    šŸ’Ŗ Physically capable of carrying tools and components weighing up to 20kg.
    šŸ—ļø Comfortable working at heights, on roofs and using vertical access equipment.
    ⭐ Desirable Experience:
    šŸ’» Basic knowledge or experience of Building Management Systems (BMS).
    šŸŽ“ Formal Health & Safety training.
    šŸ’§ Relevant certification for the maintenance and operation of evaporative cooling systems.
    šŸ¢ Previous experience working on a client-resident or site-based environment.
    šŸ“š A commitment to ongoing technical training and professional development.
