How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Officer to support the management and delivery of complex public sector commercial agreements. Working within a high-profile government procurement environment, you will provide commercial and contract management support to senior contract leads while operating independently across a diverse stakeholder landscape.

    This role is with a large scale government organisation based in Liverpool on an ad hoc basis.

    Description

    Support the development and delivery of category management and procurement strategies.
    Engage with suppliers and markets to understand industry trends, opportunities, and customer requirements.
    Translate customer needs into commercially viable procurement solutions.
    Embed and deliver category savings methodologies and cost reduction initiatives.
    Manage and monitor supplier relationships to drive performance and value.
    Support the management of complex commercial agreements and contracts.
    Analyse management information and customer buying behaviours to identify improvement opportunities.
    Produce procurement guidance, market collateral, and commercial communications for customers.
    Maintain focus on savings delivery, spend under management, customer service, and strategic supplier relationship management.
    Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders across government and the wider public sector.
    Support the promotion of commercial products, procurement initiatives, and category strategies through meetings, workshops, seminars, and industry events.
    Work collaboratively with account managers and commercial colleagues to ensure a consistent customer experience and aligned commercial approach.Profile

    Proven experience in public sector procurement and commercial management.
    Strong knowledge and practical application of Public Contracts Regulations (PCR) 2015.
    Knowledge and understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 (PA23).
    Experience of contract management and supporting complex commercial agreements.
    Supplier relationship management experience.
    Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
    Ability to work independently while supporting senior commercial and contract leads.
    Experience managing multiple stakeholders across complex environments.
    Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills.Job Offer

    Interim opportunity paying £400 p/day (Inside IR35) and offering ad hoc travel to Liverpool Office. This role is 6 months
