How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    High Peak, Derbyshire | Full-time | £Competitive + Benefits

Are you a Mechanical Engineer with 1–2 years’ industry experience looking to take the next step in your design and development career?

We’re looking for a Design & Development Engineer to join an established international engineering team in the High Peak. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to develop your skills across product design, development, testing, manufacturing and continuous improvement, working alongside experienced Product Architects and Lead Design Engineers.

    The Role

You’ll be involved throughout the product development lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility through to testing, pre-production and manufacture.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Designing and developing new products for international manufacturing sites.

    * Supporting existing products through design improvements, cost reduction and quality enhancement.

    * Optimising designs for manufacture and assembly.

    * Developing and coordinating product testing and validation.

    * Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.

    * Working with suppliers, customers and internal teams on technical requirements.

    * Producing technical reports and project updates.

    * Supporting projects through to successful production.

    About You

    You’ll ideally have:

    * A Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering qualification.

    * Around 1–2 years’ relevant industry experience in mechanical design, product development or a similar engineering environment.

    * Experience using 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks.

    * A good understanding of mechanical design, components and manufacturing processes.

    * An interest in how products are designed, manufactured and improved.

    * Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

    * A proactive, self-motivated approach and a willingness to learn.

Experience in areas such as FEA, DFMEA/PFMEA, plastics, metal pressing, electro-mechanical design, NPI, test development or Design for Six Sigma would be advantageous, but experience across all these areas is not expected.

    Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to broaden their technical experience and develop a long-term career in product design and development.

You’ll work within an international engineering and manufacturing environment, with exposure to teams across the UK, Europe and Asia and occasional international travel.

    The role offers:

    * Competitive salary

    * 33 days' holiday including Bank Holidays

    * Contributory pension

    * Healthcare for you and your dependants

    * Excellent technical development and career progression opportunities

Based in Derbyshire. A full driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

If you have 1–2 years’ engineering experience and are ready to take your design and development skills to the next level, we’d love to hear from you
