How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Executive Director, Housing

    Location: London
    Rate: £900 - £1100 per day
    Contract: 12 - Months

    Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a local authority to appoint an Interim Executive Director for Housing. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving delivery of the council's housing priorities, improving services, and ensuring strong governance, performance and compliance.

    You will lead housing strategy and operations across key areas including homelessness and temporary accommodation, private sector housing, housing management, and the asset management of residential stock including repairs and planned maintenance.

    Responsibilities include

    Executive leadership across Housing, working as part of the organisation's senior management team
    Oversight of housing strategy including housing needs, homelessness, temporary accommodation and private sector housing
    Leadership of housing management services across social rented and leasehold homes
    Strategic direction for asset management including responsive repairs, planned works, and investment planning
    Driving service transformation and improvement, improving outcomes for residents
    Ensuring compliance with current and future legislation and regulatory requirements
    Managing senior stakeholder relationships including elected members, partners and providers

    About you

    Significant senior leadership experience in local authority housing or a comparable large housing provider
    Strong background across housing management, homelessness services, and housing strategy
    Understanding of building safety, compliance, and housing repairs and maintenance at scale
    Track record delivering transformation, performance improvement, and effective governance
    Confident operating in politically led environments and influencing senior stakeholders
    Degree level education and/or CIH qualification, or equivalent senior-level experience
