How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Engineering Service Coordinator

Location: Wakefield, WF2 – Fully Office Based
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
    Salary: £28,000 – £32,000

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Service Coordinator to join a busy, fast-paced service operation based in Wakefield.

This is a hands-on coordination role where you will be responsible for managing engineers, organising their schedules and allocating jobs across a range of industrial and commercial sites. You will need to be comfortable working in a reactive environment, managing changing priorities and making sure engineers are in the right place, at the right time, with the right information.

You will coordinate three key areas of the business: PPM (planned preventative maintenance), reactive service and installations.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate a team of field engineers, including their daily schedules, workloads and availability.
Plan and allocate engineers to planned maintenance, reactive call-outs and installation jobs across industrial and commercial sites.
Manage engineer diaries, appointments and travel to ensure resources are used efficiently.
Respond quickly to urgent jobs and changing client requirements, regularly rescheduling engineers when priorities change.
Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing professional, proactive and timely updates.
Coordinate reactive repairs from initial client call through to engineer attendance and completion.
Plan and schedule PPM works, ensuring maintenance is completed within agreed timescales.
Coordinate installation works, including site surveys, quotations, purchasing and subcontractor requirements.
Liaise closely with engineers to ensure they have the correct job details, parts, equipment and access information.
Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors where required.
Monitor outstanding jobs and ensure works are completed and closed down correctly.
Work closely with the sales and purchasing teams to ensure a smooth service from quotation through to completion.
Maintain accurate records of jobs, engineer activity and client requirements.
Manage competing priorities while maintaining excellent customer service.
Ensure work is delivered efficiently and with commercial awareness, protecting margins wherever possible.
    What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who has previous experience coordinating or scheduling engineers. You must be confident managing multiple engineers and their diaries, allocating jobs and dealing with last-minute changes in a busy service environment.

    You will ideally have:

Proven experience in engineering, field service, maintenance or technical scheduling.
Experience managing engineer workloads, diaries and job allocation.
Experience scheduling engineers to customer sites, ideally within an industrial, commercial, facilities, engineering or maintenance environment.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
Experience working in a reactive, deadline-driven environment.
Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with both engineers and customers.
The ability to remain calm and make decisions when priorities change.
Good commercial awareness and an understanding of costs, margins and efficient resource planning.
Strong attention to detail and excellent administration skills.
    Suitable Backgrounds

This role could suit someone who has previously worked as a:

Engineering Coordinator | Engineering Scheduler | Service Coordinator | Service Scheduler | Maintenance Coordinator | Maintenance Scheduler | Field Service Coordinator | Field Engineer Scheduler | Service Delivery Coordinator | Contract Coordinator | Engineering Planner | Resource Planner

Experience directly coordinating field engineers is essential. This is not a general administration role — you will be responsible for managing engineer schedules, allocating work and ensuring jobs are delivered efficiently.

    Why Join?

This is a key role within a busy service-based business where every day brings different challenges. You'll have real responsibility for the successful deployment of engineers and the delivery of work to customers, with the opportunity to make a genuine impact on service levels and operational efficiency.

If you're an experienced Engineering Coordinator, Service Scheduler or Maintenance Coordinator who enjoys working at pace, managing engineers and solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now to become part of the team.
