How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a passion for teaching and developing others. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality construction training to learners, helping them develop the practical skills, knowledge and confidence required to progress into employment within the construction industry.

Experience or qualifications in Retrofit would be highly desirable, particularly for candidates with knowledge of energy efficiency, insulation, sustainable construction or retrofit-related skills.

    The Role

As a Construction Tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, practical and high-quality construction training to learners from a range of backgrounds.

You will combine your industry experience with strong teaching and communication skills to deliver both classroom-based and practical training. You will support learners throughout their programme, assess their progress and ensure they develop the skills and knowledge required to achieve their qualifications and progress into employment.

The role will involve working closely with the wider Momentum team to support learner attendance, achievement and progression.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Deliver high-quality construction training in line with qualification, awarding organisation and funding requirements.

    *

Plan and prepare engaging classroom-based and practical learning sessions.

    *

Deliver practical construction skills training in a safe and professional environment.

    *

Assess learner knowledge, understanding and practical competence accurately.

    *

Provide constructive feedback and additional support to help learners achieve their qualifications.

    *

Maintain accurate learner records, assessment documentation and training records.

    *

Ensure all training and assessment activity meets required quality, compliance and safeguarding standards.

    *

Maintain a safe learning environment and ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.

    *

Adapt teaching and learning methods to meet the needs and abilities of individual learners.

    *

Monitor learner attendance, engagement and progress and identify additional support requirements.

    *

Support learners in developing the employability skills required to progress into construction employment.

    *

Work closely with Learner Engagement Officers and the wider centre team to support learner retention and progression.

    *

Contribute to learner progression by providing information about employment opportunities and industry expectations.

    *

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction practices, legislation, health and safety requirements and industry standards.

    *

Support recruitment events, learner information sessions and employer engagement activities where required.

    *

Contribute to the continuous improvement of training delivery, learner experience and centre performance.

    *

Represent Momentum Training professionally at all times.

    Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will have strong practical experience within the construction industry and a relevant occupational background.

A recognised teaching or training qualification, such as a PTLLS, AET, CTLLS, DTLLS or equivalent, is desirable, or the willingness to work towards an appropriate teaching qualification.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be confident delivering training to groups and individuals with varying levels of experience.

A strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements is essential, alongside the ability to create and maintain a safe learning environment.

You will be organised, reliable and confident completing learner records, assessments and compliance documentation.

    Desirable Experience

Experience or qualifications in Retrofit would be highly desirable.

Knowledge or experience in areas such as energy efficiency, insulation, sustainable construction, domestic retrofit, retrofit assessment or associated construction skills would be advantageous.

Experience delivering government-funded training, Skills Bootcamps or employability programmes would also be beneficial.

Experience working within further education, adult education or a commercial training environment would be an advantage.

Additional construction qualifications or relevant industry cards and certifications would be desirable.

Experience using PICS or a similar learner management system would also be beneficial.

    Personal Attributes

We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional tutor who takes pride in delivering high-quality training and supporting learners to succeed.

You will be approachable, patient and confident when working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.

You will have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine passion for helping people develop their skills and progress into employment.

Excellent organisation and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider training team.

    What We Offer

You will have access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities and will work within a supportive and collaborative training environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing training provider and play an important role in developing the next generation of construction professionals across the North East.
