How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About Momentum Training

Momentum Training is a leading independent training provider delivering government-funded training programmes, Skills Bootcamps and employability programmes across the UK. We are passionate about changing lives through skills, training and employment opportunities, supporting individuals to develop the skills, confidence and experience they need to progress into sustainable employment.

Due to continued growth across the North East, we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and people-focused Learner Engagement Officer to join our Newcastle team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building strong relationships within the community and helping individuals take their next step towards training and employment. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing learner numbers, developing referral networks and supporting learners throughout their journey with Momentum.

    The Role

As a Learner Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for attracting, engaging and enrolling learners onto Momentum Training's funded training programmes. You will build strong relationships with referral partners and community organisations, attend recruitment events and job fairs, support promotional activity and ensure learners receive a positive and professional experience from their initial enquiry through to enrolment and progression.

You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate learner records, supporting progression activity and working closely with colleagues across the business to achieve learner recruitment and progression targets.

The role will involve regular engagement across Newcastle and the surrounding areas, including attendance at community venues, referral partner meetings, recruitment events, job fairs and other activities designed to increase awareness and participation in Momentum's training programmes.

    Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will promote Momentum Training's funded training programmes throughout Newcastle and the surrounding areas, identifying opportunities to attract and engage potential learners.

You will be responsible for recruiting and enrolling learners onto appropriate training programmes while ensuring that all eligibility requirements and enrolment processes are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.

A key part of the role will be developing and maintaining effective relationships with referral partners, including Jobcentre Plus, housing associations, charities, community groups, local authorities and other organisations supporting individuals into training and employment.

You will attend job fairs, recruitment events, careers fairs, community events and other engagement activities, representing Momentum Training professionally and promoting available training opportunities.

The role will also involve delivering learner information sessions, conducting enrolment appointments and providing potential learners with clear information regarding course requirements, eligibility and progression opportunities.

You will maintain accurate learner records using PICS and other internal systems, ensuring that learner notes, eligibility information, enrolment documentation and compliance records are completed to the required standard.

Following enrolment and course completion, you will support learner progression activity by maintaining contact with learners, identifying employment and further training outcomes and ensuring progression information is accurately recorded and communicated to the relevant internal teams.

You will work closely with tutors, Business Development Officers, Learner Engagement colleagues and management to support learner recruitment, retention and progression targets.

The role will also involve supporting Momentum's marketing and social media activity by sharing learner success stories, centre activities, recruitment campaigns and course opportunities in line with company guidelines.

You will assist with the organisation and delivery of recruitment campaigns, information sessions, community engagement activity and promotional events across the Newcastle area.

You will be expected to monitor and action the Enrolment Error Tracker, ensuring any outstanding issues are addressed promptly and accurately.

Throughout the role, you will represent Momentum Training professionally and positively, building the organisation's reputation within the local community and developing strong relationships with learners, partners and stakeholders.

    Key Performance Indicators

Performance in this role will be measured against agreed individual and centre KPIs. These will include learner enrolment numbers, learner progression outcomes, the development of new referral partnerships, social media and promotional activity, the accuracy and compliance of learner records and the overall contribution to centre recruitment and progression targets.

    Essential Criteria

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in recruitment, learner engagement, employability, customer service, sales, business development or another people-focused environment.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of individuals, organisations and community partners.

Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail are essential, particularly when managing learner records, enrolment documentation and competing priorities.

You will be confident using Microsoft Office and CRM or database systems and be comfortable learning new systems and processes.

The ability to work independently, manage your own workload and take a proactive approach to achieving targets is essential.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required, as the role will involve travel to referral partners, community venues, recruitment events and other locations across the region.

    Desirable Criteria

Previous experience within the education, training or employability sector would be advantageous, as would knowledge of government-funded training programmes and Skills Bootcamps.

Experience using PICS or a similar learner management or CRM system would be beneficial.

Experience of working with referral partners, community organisations, Jobcentre Plus or other employment support organisations would also be desirable.

Experience delivering presentations, learner information sessions or group engagement activities would be an advantage.

    Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and passionate about helping people improve their skills and employment opportunities.

You will be self-motivated, proactive and resilient, with the drive to work towards and achieve recruitment and progression targets.

You will be highly organised, have strong time management skills and be confident communicating with learners, employers, referral partners and colleagues at all levels.

A positive and professional approach is essential, alongside the ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being comfortable working independently and managing your own activity.

    What We Offer

Momentum Training offers a competitive salary of £27,000 per annum, alongside a Monday to Friday working pattern with an early finish at 4:00pm on Fridays.

You will benefit from a company pension scheme, free onsite parking, ongoing training and professional development opportunities and a supportive and collaborative working environment.

Most importantly, this role provides the opportunity to make a genuine difference to people's lives by helping individuals access training, develop new skills and progress towards employment.

    Equality, Diversity and Safeguarding

Momentum Training is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our learners. The successful applicant will be required to undertake appropriate pre-employment checks, including a DBS check where applicable.

    How to Apply

If you are passionate about helping people progress, enjoy building relationships within the community and are looking for an exciting opportunity within a growing training organisation, we would be delighted to hear from you.
