How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Sprinkler Designer – Job Spec

    Job Type: Full-time
     Salary: Competitive salary and package, dependent on experience

    Our client is a well-established, growing and family-run fire protection specialist with over 15 years of industry experience. The business provides a complete range of fire protection solutions, including the design, supply, installation and maintenance of residential and commercial sprinkler systems, wet and dry risers, retrofit sprinkler systems. 

    They have established themselves as one of the UK's leading fire sprinkler contractors and holds various recognised industry accreditations. The business has continued to grow through investment and expansion, while retaining its family-focused culture and commitment to technical quality. 

    They have delivered major flagship projects for tier one clients involving thousands of sprinklers, including high-rise residential developments 

    The Role

    Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Sprinkler Designer to join its technical and design team in their West Midlands office. 

    The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate, compliant and commercially practical sprinkler designs across a range of residential and commercial projects.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Designer looking to join an established and growing fire protection contractor, with exposure to major construction and retrofit projects across the UK.

    Key Responsibilities

    Produce detailed fire sprinkler system designs and layouts in accordance with relevant British Standards and industry requirements. 
    Design residential and commercial sprinkler systems, including new-build and retrofit applications. 
    Produce detailed sprinkler drawings, schematics and design documentation. 
    Interpret architectural, structural and M&E drawings to develop coordinated sprinkler designs. 
    Undertake hydraulic calculations and ensure systems achieve the required flow and pressure requirements. 
    Design systems in accordance with relevant standards. 
    Liaise with clients, main contractors, consultants, engineers and other design disciplines. 
    Review project specifications and identify design requirements, constraints and potential issues. 
    Attend site visits and surveys where required. 
    Respond to technical queries and design changes throughout the project lifecycle. 
    Work closely with the estimating, project management and installation teams to ensure designs are deliverable on site. 
    Manage multiple projects and design deadlines effectively. 

    Candidate Requirements

    Previous experience working as a Sprinkler Designer across larger scale commercial or residential projects. 
    Strong knowledge of sprinkler system design principles. 
    Experience designing to BS 9251 and/or BS EN 12845. 
    Good knowledge of construction drawings and M&E coordination. 
    Experience using AutoCAD or relevant CAD design software. 
    Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings. 
    Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to design. 
    Good communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and project teams. 
    Ability to manage workload, prioritise deadlines and work across multiple projects. 
    Commercial awareness and an understanding of practical installation requirements.
