How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Torness Power Station, East Lothian
    Contract: Rolling 12 month contract
    Duration: Initial contract to 31/12/2026
    Rate: £24.64-£37.22 Ph PAYE or £33.49 - £50.59 Umbrella depending on experience

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced WEG Engineer to join a team supporting engineering and maintenance activities at Torness Power Station.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment to play a key role in delivering engineered solutions that support the safe and reliable operation of the station.

    The Role

    As a WEG Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering work identified through Work Week Plans, supporting the operational priorities of the site and ensuring maintenance activities can be delivered safely, effectively and to the required quality standards.

    You will work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to develop practical engineering solutions, prepare and approve work documentation, and ensure that work packages contain the information and resources required for successful execution.

    Key Responsibilities

    Act as a nuclear professional at all times, maintaining a strong focus on nuclear safety across all activities.
    Engineer work in support of the station's operational objectives using established work management processes.
    Use relevant operational experience and learning when preparing plant-based activities.
    Develop and approve Work Order Cards (WOCs) containing engineered solutions to resolve identified defects.
    Identify additional tasks, resources and procedures required to support repair activities and ensure these are incorporated into work packages.
    Provide engineering input to improve maintenance work instructions, documentation and check sheets.
    Identify and specify appropriate spares in accordance with relevant supply chain procedures.
    Prepare task-related risk assessments, including identifying requirements for safety from the system.
    Ensure routine work packages and WEG-generated work packages contain the appropriate information to support successful execution by maintenance teams.
    Work in accordance with applicable standards, procedures, quality arrangements and station expectations.
    Support the safe and reliable operation of the station through the provision of effective engineering solutions.About You

    We are looking for an engineer who is comfortable working within a safety-critical and highly regulated environment, with a methodical approach to engineering and work management.

    You will ideally have:

    A recognised engineering qualification or relevant engineering experience.
    Experience of engineering within a complex industrial, energy, nuclear, manufacturing or similarly regulated environment.
    Experience developing engineering solutions to support maintenance or repair activities.
    Experience producing or reviewing technical/work documentation.
    An understanding of risk assessment and safe systems of work.
    Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
    The ability to work collaboratively with engineering and maintenance teams.
    A strong understanding of the importance of safety, compliance and procedural adherence.Good Luck!
