How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contextual Information

Build the Future of Clean Energy

Hinkley Point C is one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects, delivering two new nuclear reactors that will provide low-carbon electricity to millions of homes.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Delivery Lead with a strong Mechanical and Piping background to take a key role within the Nuclear Island construction programme.

This is not a traditional building-services M&E position.

We are specifically interested in construction professionals who understand the delivery of mechanical plant, piping and associated secondary steelwork within major civil structures and can operate effectively at the interface between mechanical installation and civil construction.

You'll need to understand how mechanical and piping works physically integrate with structures, supports, embedded items, access requirements and surrounding construction activities - and, critically, how to coordinate these interfaces in the field.

If you've delivered complex mechanical or piping packages on nuclear, power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, process, energy or major infrastructure projects, this represents an opportunity to bring that experience to one of Europe's most significant engineering programmes.

    The Role

As Construction Delivery Lead, you will oversee construction activities undertaken by Tier 1 contract partners within your allocated area of the Nuclear Island.

Your primary focus will be the successful delivery and integration of mechanical, piping and secondary steelwork packages, working closely with the civil construction teams to ensure interfaces are identified, planned and resolved before they impact site delivery.

You'll provide leadership to Construction Delivery Managers while coordinating with engineering, project management, quality, logistics, commercial, planning and Tier 1 contractors.

Approximately 50% of your time will be spent in the field, maintaining a visible presence and understanding the reality of construction progress. The remaining time will involve planning, coordination, contractor meetings, technical reviews and reporting.

This requires someone who is comfortable getting close to the work - understanding what is being installed, what needs to happen next and what civil, structural or engineering constraints could prevent successful mechanical delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of mechanical and piping construction packages within allocated Nuclear Island areas.
Manage the interfaces between mechanical installation, piping, secondary steelwork and civil construction.
Oversee Tier 1 contractors and ensure construction activities are safely and effectively delivered against programme.
Coordinate piping installation requirements including supports, secondary steelwork, access, sequencing and associated structural interfaces.
Identify constructability and interface risks before they impact workface delivery.
Lead and develop Construction Delivery Managers supporting your allocated works.
Maintain a strong site presence, providing construction leadership and resolving field-based issues.
Lead weekly Plan of the Week (PLOW) meetings and support Plan of the Day (PLOD) activities with contractor partners.
Coordinate short-term construction sequencing and ensure activities align with the wider programme.
Work closely with engineering and design teams to resolve RFIs, FCRs, NCRs and field engineering changes.
Coordinate with adjoining construction areas and disciplines to manage physical and programme interfaces.
Oversee contractor labour, logistics, access and construction readiness.
Review construction documentation, RAMS, work authorisation and associated delivery requirements.
Ensure appropriate construction surveillance and quality assurance arrangements are implemented.
Support compliance with ITPs and ensure Lifetime Quality Records are progressively compiled.
Drive high standards of nuclear, conventional and environmental safety.
Escalate emerging programme, quality, engineering or contractor performance issues where appropriate.

    Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

We're looking for an experienced construction professional with substantial hands-on delivery knowledge of mechanical and piping works.

Your background should go beyond general construction management. You should understand how piping and mechanical systems are physically constructed, supported and integrated into major structures.

You'll ideally have experience coordinating packages involving:

    Piping and pipework installation
    Mechanical plant and equipment
    Pipe supports and secondary steelwork
    Structural and civil interfaces
Embedded items and mechanical interfaces within concrete structures
    Fabrication and installation sequencing
Welding, inspection and quality-controlled mechanical installation
    Temporary works, access and constructability
    Multi-discipline construction environments
The ability to operate across the Mechanical-Structural-Civil interface is central to this position.Essential Experience

Extensive construction delivery experience within Mechanical and Piping disciplines.
Strong understanding of piping installation and associated construction methodology.
Experience delivering or coordinating secondary steelwork and pipe support systems.
Demonstrable experience managing interfaces between mechanical works and civil/structural construction.
Considerable experience delivering large, complex construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, workface planning and constructability.
Experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
Ability to identify and resolve construction and engineering interface issues.
Strong understanding of health, safety and CDM requirements.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to produce clear construction reports and communicate issues effectively.
NEBOSH, SMSTS or IOSH qualification.Highly Desirable

Experience gained within one or more of the following environments would be particularly attractive:

Nuclear | Power Generation | Oil & Gas | Petrochemical | Process Plant | Energy | Heavy Industrial | Major Infrastructure

Previous nuclear experience is advantageous but not essential where candidates can demonstrate significant mechanical/piping construction experience within another complex, regulated or safety-critical environment.

Experience of the following would also be beneficial:

    Nuclear mechanical installation
    Large-bore or process piping
    Fabricated piping systems and spools
    Pipe support systems
Structural steelwork associated with mechanical installation
    Welding and NDT environments
    Quality-controlled installation and ITPs
    Lifetime Quality Records
    NEC contracts
    Tier 1 contractor management
    High-security or highly regulated projects

Are you ready to be part of a project that's reshaping the energy landscape of the UK? This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on the construction of Hinkley Point C. If you have the skills and experience to lead this challenging endeavour, we want to hear from you.

    Good Luck!
