How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are seeking experienced Disrepair Surveyors to join a busy Housing Disrepair Team supporting high-quality housing standards across a large social housing portfolio.
The role involves technical investigations, expert witness inspections, complex repair case management and the preparation of robust reports and evidence relating to housing disrepair, damp and mould.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Conduct CPR 35-compliant inspections and prepare expert witness reports, managing a minimum caseload of approximately three surveys/reports per week.
    * Investigate complex defects including damp, mould, mechanical ventilation and psychrometric conditions, using appropriate specialist equipment.
    * Develop specifications, Bills of Quantities and remedial works proposals.
    * Manage complex reactive repairs and capital works from initial investigation through to completion and sign-off.
    * Monitor works, manage variations and undertake post-inspection assessments.
    * Liaise with residents, contractors, insurers, legal representatives and internal stakeholders.
    * Apply a resident-focused and trauma-informed approach when dealing with sensitive housing issues.
    * Ensure compliance with HHSRS, CPR 35, CDM, COSHH, Health & Safety at Work legislation and DDA requirements.
    * Support insurers and assessors with claims and settlement assessments.
    * Manage repair costs and budgets using Schedule of Rates (SOR).
    * Maintain accurate case records using mobile surveying technology and property management systems.
    Essential Requirements
    * HNC in Building Studies, Construction or equivalent.
    * Membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CIOB, CIEH, CABE or IOSH.
    * At least 2 years' professional experience in housing disrepair surveying, preferably with Expert Witness experience.
    * Strong practical knowledge of HHSRS and housing disrepair requirements.
    * In-depth understanding of housing legislation, legal disrepair protocols and CPR 35 Practice Direction.
    * Demonstrable experience investigating damp, mould, ventilation and complex building defects.
    * Experience producing clear, evidence-based technical reports suitable for legal or claims purposes.
    * Strong communication, analytical and report-writing skills.
    * Ability to manage difficult conversations and build trust with residents.
    * Confident using handheld surveying technology, mobile applications and PC-based management systems.
