How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an engineer with experience in 2D/3D measurement, machine vision, automation, metrology or industrial inspection?
Do you enjoy getting to the bottom of a customer's technical problem, assessing what's possible and developing a solution that genuinely works?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist technology business as a Sales & Applications Engineer, working with some of the most advanced measurement and inspection technologies used across modern manufacturing.
    The Role
This is not a traditional sales role.
You'll sit at the intersection of technical applications, customer problem-solving and commercial sales, helping manufacturers understand what is technically possible and selecting the right 2D/3D technology for their application.
You'll work with customers on everything from profile and dimensional measurement through to surface inspection, quality control and automated inspection, supporting opportunities from the initial technical conversation through testing, demonstration and ultimately the sale.
You'll be dealing with technologies including:
    ·2D/3D laser profile scanners
    ·3D snapshot sensors
    ·Surface inspection technology
    ·Optical measurement
    ·3D inspection software
    ·Sensor interfaces and industrial communications
    ·Automation and system integration
    What You'll Be Doing
You'll become the technical point of contact for customers looking to solve complex measurement and inspection challenges.
    Your role will include:
·Visiting customer sites across the UK to understand applications and technical requirements
·Assessing 2D/3D measurement, profile, dimensional and inspection applications
·Selecting and recommending the appropriate sensor and measurement technology
·Supporting customer demonstrations, trials and proof-of-concept projects
·Working with customer samples and coordinating laboratory testing
·Assessing application feasibility and installation requirements
·Supporting quotations, technical proposals and commercial justification
·Working alongside sales and applications teams to develop opportunities
·Liaising with international technical teams for specialist application support
·Building long-term relationships with engineers, quality teams, automation specialists and manufacturing customers
    The Technical Difference
This is where this role differs from a conventional Technical Sales or Applications Engineer position.
We're looking for someone who can get beyond simply specifying a sensor.
The successful candidate will be able to take those requirements and work towards a practical 2D/3D inspection or measurement solution.
    Who We're Looking For
We'd particularly like to speak with people coming from backgrounds such as:
    ·Machine Vision Engineer
    ·3D Vision Engineer
    ·Applications Engineer
    ·Field Applications Engineer
    ·Technical Sales Engineer
    ·Metrology Engineer
    ·Automation Engineer
    ·Vision Systems Engineer
    ·Measurement Engineer
    ·Service / Commissioning Engineer
Experience with 2D/3D laser scanners, machine vision, 3D inspection, PLCs, robotics, automation or industrial measurement would be particularly valuable.
    The Person
We're looking for someone technically curious who enjoys solving problems.
    You'll need to be:
·Technically credible and comfortable talking to engineers
    ·Confident visiting customer sites
·Able to understand and challenge technical requirements
    ·Comfortable discussing application feasibility
·Practical and analytical in your approach
·Commercially aware without being a "hard sell" salesperson
·Confident presenting technical solutions and test results
·Comfortable learning complex sensor, software and inspection technology
Previous experience with the company's products isn't required.
Your technical ability, application experience and willingness to learn are far more important.
    Why Join?
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond a conventional engineering or sales position and become a technical specialist within advanced 2D/3D measurement and inspection.
    You'll get exposure to:
    ·Advanced 2D/3D sensor technology
    ·Machine vision and automated inspection
    ·Complex manufacturing applications
·Customer site visits and technical projects
    ·Product demonstrations and feasibility studies
    ·International technical teams
    ·Specialist product and software training
    ·Overseas/Germany training opportunities
·A genuine mix of engineering, applications and commercial responsibility
    The Package
    ·£50,000 - £65,000 basic salary
    ·15-20% performance-related bonus
    ·Company hybrid car
·Up to 8% employer pension contribution
    ·Healthcare cash plan
    ·Company laptop and mobile phone
    ·Business expenses covered
    ·2D/3D product and applications training
    ·3D inspection/software training
    ·Overseas/Germany product training
    ·Sales and applications coaching
    Interested?
If you're currently working in machine vision, 3D inspection, metrology, automation, sensors, robotics or technical applications and want the opportunity to work on more complex customer applications while developing your commercial career, we'd like to hear from you.
