How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor – Tipton, West Midlands
    Civil Engineering – Water Sector
    £55k plus company package

    We are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for a large Civil Engineering PLC based in Tipton. The company specialise within the water sector and work on large frameworks including clean water and civils works, as well as undertaking several other civil engineering projects for major water companies such as Severn Trent and Anglian Water involving concrete repairs, installation of tanks and maintenance of assets.

    It is a great time to join the business who are undergoing a period of sustained growth and have a solid 5-year plan in place to accommodate further growth. This opportunity forms part of the growth plan providing the addition of an experienced project surveyor to join a young team, acting in effect as the right hand to the Commercial Manager.

    Ideally you will have 5 – 8 years’ experience working for a contractor within the construction industry (my client is open to candidates who have operated outside of the water sector) and be able to run your own schemes and support junior team members.

    The role affords great flexibility of work and can be based from their Tipton offices or one of the businesses depots located in Cradley Heath or Walsall. It also features flexible working with 2 days homeworking as well as an excellent company package.

    Criteria:
    •Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar
    •5 – 8 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor
    •Commutable to the West Midlands
