How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Locations: Ipswich
    Salary: £36,000 - £48,000 per annum
    Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with 1 saturday a month. | 40 hours per week

    An established and highly regarded commercial vehicle business is looking for experienced HGV Technicians to join its professional workshop teams in Ipswich.
    This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified HGV Technician who takes pride in their workmanship and wants to build a long-term career within a professional commercial vehicle environment.

    You'll be working on a varied fleet of heavy goods vehicles, carrying out servicing, repairs, maintenance and diagnostics to ensure customer vehicles remain safe, compliant and road-ready.

    The Role
    As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for:
    ·Carrying out servicing, repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs.
    ·Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults.
    ·Following manufacturer specifications and approved repair procedures.
    ·Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
    ·Assisting with technical fault diagnosis and problem-solving.
    ·Completing warranty work and associated documentation accurately.
    ·Completing job cards, repair orders and time recording in line with company procedures.
    ·Working efficiently to support workshop productivity and minimise vehicle downtime.
    ·Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
    ·Keeping tools, equipment and workshop facilities in a safe and serviceable condition.
    ·Working closely with colleagues and management to maintain an effective workshop operation.
    ·Contributing to improvements in workshop processes and procedures.
    ·Taking part in ongoing technical training and professional development.

    About You
    We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician with:
    ·City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
    ·Previous experience working within a commercial vehicle or HGV workshop.
    ·Proven technical competence in HGV servicing, repair and maintenance.
    ·Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
    ·Excellent problem-solving ability and a proactive approach.
    ·Good written and verbal communication skills.
    ·The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    ·Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
    ·A flexible and adaptable approach.
    ·A full UK Driving Licence.
    ·A commitment to continued learning and development.

    Desirable Experience
    The following would be advantageous:
    ·Class 1 or Class 2 HGV Licence.
    ·Tachograph Licence.
    ·Previous HGV main dealership experience.
    ·Experience as a Diagnostic Technician.
    ·Strong experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment.
